Way cool bike. Love the swept back handlebars. lol @ the guy renting them saying it's one of the most powerful motors and that's important because it gives you distance. It's not the motor that gives you distance it's the size of the battery and how much degradation it has along with the level of power assist you are using and elevation gains along the route. Which in Florida is extremely nominal. Back to my point, it's a hub drive motor so even IF it's 750W that's far less then a lot of the mid drives out there. Not to mention torque which is what most in the biking know are looking for. As cool as a bike that is the fact it's a hub drive rules it out for me. Good luck changing a flat with a hub drive. Thanks for sharing!

E-Bikes are fun. If you live in an area with small hills, they are great on the uphill portions. If you’ve simply overdone an outing, they save you from having to pedal all the way home. They are heavy, so smaller people may find that they handle differently than a conventional bike. One thing to be aware of if you buy one is that the battery needs to be replaced about once a year.

We bought foldable electric bikes so we can store them in our fifth wheel. Unfortunately, they are 60 lbs. so very heavy but we manage. Linda, I was a bit shocked when you said you were on a 5 when you were going up the hill. If I put our bikes on a 5, I would be flying at about 20 miles per hour! Even a 2 is too fast for our bikes. My husband cannot pedal due to hip problems so he uses the throttle exclusively and rides it like a motorcycle. Aren't they a blast?

People sometimes ask if pedaling an E-bike recharges the battery. It doesn’t. Apparently, pedaling is an inefficient means of charging a battery, and you would have to pedal 10 miles to charge the battery enough to go one mile, assuming someone sells a model that allows you to charge via pedaling.

Kevin, we know that we are not Spring chicks anymore. We also know that we need to exercise, and we like to go on bike rides… sometimes when the wind blows or you're going uphill it's pretty darn tough on people our age. If you have ridden ebikes, you probably know that some simply have an assist and must be pedaled. Others like the ones we are getting do actually have a throttle and can accelerate from a dead stop without pedalling. The bikes have a capability of perhaps, 25MPH… but we don't plan on going that fast. We are well aware that our reflexes and bounceability are not near what they were 30, 40, or 50 years ago. We plan to be as careful as we can. After all, life is for living… right?
