What a wonderful gift. Our story is a long one. But the gift is not about us. As with most gifts, the best gifts are when something happens to someone else that makes you happy. Our current home in The Villages is in Marsh Bend. If you ride the golf cart path that parallels the turnpike, and you stop under the powerlines to watch that beautiful sunset. Our home is the one with the Lanai under the magnificent Oak at the end of the wall to your left. But enough about us. Our friends from home, Brian & Laurie, just got the best welcome to The Villages anyone could ask for. We were so tickled when we saw this "film". We have been subscribing fans of yours for a long time, and feel like you are close friends, even though we have never met. And now we get to thank you for such a wonderful gift. A Welcome from the Newcomers is truly the best welcome one could ask for. And you just did it for our friends who we have missed for awhile, that are about to be near us again.

David, thank you so much. You have no idea how good it makes us feel when we find out that something we have posted or broadcast has made other people feel good. We hope you, as well as Brian and Laurie, have as wonderful a time in the villages as we have. That is just about the nicest comment we have read in a long, long time.🙂🙂

Never buy a lot or a home just by looking at a plot plan. You need to physically visit the location so you can check for nuisances like intersecting roadways, utility boxes, undesirable noises or smells etc.

Great point John. We got lucky making an offer on our home sight unseen. The house was already built and we were able to come down for a final decision.

We picked our lot on Marsh Bend off plan when the plans were initially released. Unfortunately the LOT was never released - because it is one of the show homes :-) We settled for a designer home around the corner (not on this video) - but on a second visit, 3 months later to finalise the design, we changed our mind - mainly due to the increased noise and the completion of the homes opposite. TV has a great policy that you can change once free of charge - and we were lucky enough that Chitty Chatty had been released the week we were out so we swapped. TV really do give prospective owners lots of opportunities to make sure that they pick the righ home (if a designer). You put down a $2k deposit and have 7 days to make up your mind. a further $ 8k (making $10k overall) is put down with 90 days to complete your designs. You can pull out or swap out at any point up to signing the design home free. So you have ample opportunity to get it right.... visit multiple times of day morning traffic is different to lunch time and night time...

Always walk the lot. My builder suggested that and I almost didn’t do it. But I decided since he mentioned it it was for a reason. I did not take that lot it had some kind of drain in the backyard that I did not want on my land,

Love the Video, I am in South America at work and have not been home to see the recent construction. I dont think you noticed but all the Christopher Villa homes had names on the light post in front of each home. This common for the Live the Lifestyle homes you can rent. Those homes are not for sale as of yet. If you look at The Villages App you will note they are not listed.

Another fun video! Interesting how the 'garage' is the most prominent thing you see, as you cruised the neighborhoods, and the entry ways were pushed way back. Different. I went to The Villages website and scrolled down the floorplans. Oh my gosh - the ones I really liked were: Jasmine, Sassafras, Tamarind, and Wisteria. They all had 3 bedrooms, 2 car garages, and the entry led you thru a foyer, then to the kitchen, rather than walking into a living room. I've always liked having the kitchen close to the entry. Everyone loves to gather in the kitchen. And yeah, I'm only "imagining" living there, cuz you did tell me, "never say never". Ha Ha - I'm Dreaming! You two are too compatible - uh uh, can't be. When my sister and her husband bought their retirement home they were not having any health problems, as time went on they both were having trouble walking, guess what .? Love your ride alongs! A few questions. What’s an on demand water heater in front? It’s the homeowners that must pay for a porta potty when work is being done? I was surprised as you rode by that red and blue house & wondered why that was allowed? Happy Thanksgiving to you and Linda!
@JERRYANDLINDA4 жыл бұрын
Linda, those water heaters replace the big tanks that most of us have inside our homes. The on demand tanks in the Villages are on the exterior of the homes. Anytime builders do service for us the consumer ends up paying for everything, Including the port a pot. It is all built into the final bill. Yes come a we thought the same that blue house is different from most the USE in the Villages. It must be an approved colour, or I don't think they would have it.

It seems these roads are very narrow, lots are tiny in all directions and with not having sidewalks, I feel almost claustrophobic just watching. There is a great deal of stuff going on, on each property, with driveways almost touching, I feel in this price range the community would do better with brick pavers for such expansive surfaces. I imagine it looks different in person, but on video, it tends to look awkward.

Great job. I would love to move there. My husband wants to stay in TN 'til the day he dies. Do you have singles that move there? Asking for a friend.
Just wait until more of us tail end baby boomers start to retire. No empty land will be found. Happy Thanksgiving, Linda & Jerry! (We have the faux hinges on our garage doors. Very inexpensive, and we receive a lot of compliments.)

The people following me would’ve ticked me off, but I am from New Jersey and am therefore ticked off as a default 😊

No sidewalks. Makes it dangerous for walking and walking dogs. Very small driveways in terms of length
@JERRYANDLINDA4 жыл бұрын
There are many sidewalks in the villages. As for the side streets such as we live on, we feel very safe walking and walking our dog, which we do every day.

At least the names are different. But everything else looks about the same.

“‘little boxes made of ticky-tacky, little boxes on the hillside....and they’re all made of ticky-tacky, and they all look just the same”. Wow! The Villages are -how should one describe it- so artificial and so uniformly boring...this is a neighborhood directly out of “The Twilight Zone”! Square mile upon square mile of nature and wildlife destruction. But at least the Morse family comes out ahead-they are billionaires several times over, I bet!

You could have gonna all day thinking that to yourself. But no, you had to insult our hosts who obviously like The Villages. There is a delete comment feature. I suggest you activate it. And remember the adage, ”if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.”

Thank you, Lori. We always try to acknowledge that it isn't for everyone. 🙂🙂

But yet your on the channel

@@LorisWhirled A noble adage, but makes for a dull world. Comments weren't necessarily "not nice," just an opinion, and not wholly wrong.

Obviously someone that is so unhappy with there life that they try to pull down people with a great one. Some would call it jealousy. There is probably a better clinical definition. Like Tim D said " But yet you are on the channel ". All the same ? Have you been there? Did you watch the whole video?
