So yeah, it's equally her fault. She never liked him either. They both loath each other because she has been jealous of his relationship with Tomo ever since they were kids. Which led to her constant bullying of him.

That's a trope that's far too uncommon in anime like this. Typically when I guy is taunted by a girl, the guy is either stoic, too polite to get angry, just walks away, or is too "manly" to retaliate. Not that getting physical is ever encouraged. I just think this is a refreshing scene in an anime. Where a girl deliberately tries to get under a guy's skin, and the guy is competent/cognitive enough to notice and - again - retaliate in some way. Some visceral, realistic way. It's a simple scene, in a simple show, but somehow had a lot of weight to it that moved me somehow.
