Bruh I have the same injury in the same leg but mine is farther along and dislocates (or attempts to) constantly. The day that I had enough and went to physical therapy (because I still refuse to get the surgery) was like this. This scene when it hit had me bawling my eyes out. They nailed it. I am a 31 year old man who jumped up off my couch and screamed "Go!" because the scene hit so personally. After this episode there was no doubt this was my favorite anime hahaha. It's not best looking, it's not the best story, but the deep understanding of competitive ego they portray makes it so personal to anyone who is competitive. So damn hype.

Unfortunately, I failed to break these chains after dislocating my knee several times. I didn't have the mentality of a young boy. Do I regret? I don't know, but for sure my life would look different now if I hadn't been injured several times or if I had decided to try to heal it effectively. It's my fault and I'm paying a penalty for it now. I have tremendous respect for Chigiri's character, for how he broke through, because I know his pain and suffering and I know how huge his blockage must have been and even greater motivation to break these chains.

These "chains" are a real feeling in real life, it's the struggle to go back to what your life used to be and facing your fears, some of us get to break them, some just attatch more chains, but we can all be free if we try hard enough, Chigiri got my respect, it's such a good character to illustrate the feeling of the chains and the emotion of breaking them

I felt this moment at 1:10 a little too deep, especially when he talked about being "afraid of no longer being a genius" or in the spotlight, ya know? But also, I come from a long time of playing PvP in Warframe and now that I'm getting older I started doubting myself. However, watching my younger friends play, seeing that fire in them to win, how they put the same commitment I did into the game, I feel that same drive well back up in me, and so I had my Chain Break moment just last week, only for me, it felt like my hands were bound instead, afraid to touch the controller, but no longer.
