​@@Trygorn A lot of people would cry foul on that and proclaim that Darkness should be the girl he ends up with, but that's because waay to many people, particularly kids, tend to self-insert themselves and project their own preferences onto the MC. I get really tired of this, especially when someone is insisting that it's bad writing for the MC to end up with whoever the MC becomes closest to, rather than who the reader/viewer prefers. It's an example of the Dunning/Kruegar effect. The reader/viewer is arrogantly asserting their superior writing knowledge while demonstrating that their creative analytical skills are actually pretty bad.

Do not forget her Crimson Demon like penchant for acting cool and one-upping people … or her ability to get herself into trouble 🤭. But on the other hand you are right, apart from her flaws Megumin is also pretty smart and can extricate herself from trouble as well. She’s also pretty much the only one who can keep up with Kazuma and can quickly figure out what is going on at any given time. And as time goes on she proves all the more there is at least “some” method to her madness. That’s partly what draws them together I think, … and why hKazuma could never go for someone like Aqua who is pretty much the complete opposite.

(If I remember correctly that one is also pretty cute as they try to find one another, but keep missing one another in Scooby Doo like fashion until Megumin eventually ends up in jail … again :P)

Man. Darkness was butchered so hard. I really hope they could somehow save her character if they decided to animate the light novel. The saddest part is that Megumin was kind of the reason for her downfall. She got all the focus, so Darkness was pretty much left in the dust. Then, when she’s finally used, she’s butchered and just used to promote Megumin x Kazuma, while making Darkness extremely unlikable. They should honestly go off the rails a bit and improve Darkness’s character, and give both her and Aqua a bit more focus.

Well, in the Light Novel they spend a lot of time together and do a lot of nice heart warming things together but I don't recall there ever being anything exactly like a date from our world. In the first place I'm not sure the concept of a date even exists in that world.

Not entirely true, she also trusts Yunyun to do it. And on occasion Aqua and Darkness have, but she doesn’t prefer it. But I do think you are on to something. We get a bit lost in the comedy aspect to realise that, after casting explosion, she really is completely helpless for a while. It takes trust for her to let someone carry her. And for all his lewdness and perviness, and even though he fantasises about her chest when he carries her, … Kazuma has never done, or never will, anything while she is defenceless like that. The thought has literally never crossed his mind once. That’s pretty dope.
