Like how the show points out that beauty products and practices used in the past were incredibly harmful and did a lot more damage than anyone realized.

The title is referring to the brown haired lady got really sick using bloodletting to get paler skin because it is really popular with the aristocrats. Falma is providing her with an alternative without the harmful side effects like possibly dying.
@LAM18952 жыл бұрын
It’s actually a play on a popular phrase in dubious or fraudulent ads used to pique your interest, "one weird trick your doctor/pharmacist doesn’t want you to know about". But here it’s the bloodletters that don’t want Farma to disrupt their business.

Only a single use for bloodletting is ever used in modern times and it’s a rare one. There is a condition where a person naturally creates way too much iron in the blood and you feel ill from it. It’s actually quite rare. That blood is taken out by donation and stored because it can be used for blood transfusion. This blood donation is done about twice a week for a length of time. The condition tends to limit itself which is actually quite good. The iron has a slightly enhanced effect on blood transfusions if it is short term.

No such thing as “pale enough “ in those days, you’d be surprised what people did just to fit the beauty standards. Some ate tapeworms to lose weight, or used poisonous eye drops, even radioactive beauty creams.
@maxnum1sgameclub263 Жыл бұрын
Poor people like people with a tan (be it a sun tan or skin tan) were considerd poor cause they were working the fields all day. The people in that age thought if you were pale as snow you were nobility bc you didn’t work outside. Ever wondered why many long castle entrances and mansion entrances have large trees and major leafage? So the sun would not come in the carriage and give them a very slow tan. Its a very outdated way of thinking (the tan thing) but that were the times.
