Paradox should be paying you for these. Seriously. Their in-game tutorial is laughable and the game requires FAR too much wiki use to get oriented to the numerous game systems -- the game is just way too dense to get your hands firmly on all the levers without substantial "homework". Anyway, seriously fantastic work, you're very talented.

Good news: the faction bug described at 20:10 is now fixed. With release 3.0 of Crusader Kings 2, it is once again possible to start a faction for feudal elective succession without the Conclave DLC. The conditions for starting a faction for feudal elective are now different than what I state in the video. The crown authority law no longer needs to be min to start such a faction; low crown authority is now sufficient. Furthermore, if the ruler who controls the crown authority law is your direct liege, then you can start a faction for elective succession even if the crown authority is medium, high, or max.

In my current game I was about to lose a vassal due to his inheriting a duchy (actually a bunch of them) but then I granted him one of my duchies so when the foreign ruler eventually dies and he inherits then I am getting all those duchies for my realm.... no wars necessary.... so cool! May be helpful for those who don't have a good understanding of province names, or would like province names to be consistent no matter what culture takes it over at the cost of historical accuracy. Excuse me, in this example - 11:46 - isn't Bermudo Ordones already your vassal? I see your portrait top-right above him as his liege. Why do you have to grant him a landed title?
@btrekkie3 жыл бұрын
Initially, Bermudo is my courtier, not my vassal. He's an unlanded person of noble birth who's just kind of hanging around in my court. It's true that it says I'm his liege. But this is a bit misleading as he does not have any land titles, so he is not actually anyone's vassal.

In my conquest of Ireland, I've started as the petty kingdom of Munster, and after two kings I've conquered almost the entireity of Southern Ireland and Dublin, but afterwards my counselors became so useless at creating claims that I went straight to the Pope to ask him for rulership over the duchy of Connacht, and surprisingly he granted it to me, tough I don't remember how much I've paid in piety and prestige. Maybe the Pope agreed because previously one of my kings went on a Crusade to Egypt and later became a parangon of virtue, that must have farmed a ton of prestige, piety and stuff. Afterwards some other petty kingdoms formed a defensive alliance against me so I've hired a big mercenary company to give them a proper trashing while my own armies storm the castles. The war lasted 2 years and after conquering 80% of Ireland, my dinasty became the rulers of the Kingdom of Eyre, after 4 generations.

@btrekkie4 жыл бұрын
If you have sufficient cause, you should be able to revoke at least one of his titles without an opinion penalty from your other vassals. Try right-clicking the vassal and clicking "Revoke Title." The resulting tooltip should tell you if this will result in an opinion penalty. Once you've revoked the title, you can grant it to someone else or keep it for yourself. great Video.. Got a question. You say adding a Vassel to your court than using his claim to a land to wage war that since he is my vassel I would gain the territory.. but it didn't work like that.. once I won my Vassel Usurped the title and left my court. Now he owns the land and not me.. Not a good way to get land if this is what happens.
@btrekkie5 жыл бұрын
Are you sure he was your vassal? It's not enough for the claimant to just be in your court. In order to get the land, before you win the war, you (usually) have to make the claimant your vassal, by granting him a county or a barony.

If you grant an heir to a foreign duchy one of your duchies, he becomes vassal to 2 kings right? What makes him swap the foreign duchy under your rule? I don't quite understand
@btrekkie3 жыл бұрын
He doesn't become vassal to two kings - that's the key. In Crusader Kings 2, a character can only have one direct liege. Since you were his liege first, you remain his liege when he inherits his second duchy. So the second duchy will leave the realm of the other king (or emperor) and become part of your realm.

Ok, Ok, Ok. So, let me see if I got this right. If you marry an heir to someone of your dynasty that child will inherit the titles. To get and heir to marry you can ask their liege, if no you can invite the heir to court and then arrange a marriage. If male does the marriage need to be matrilineal or not? I'm guessing no?
@btrekkie4 жыл бұрын
You want the children of the marriage to be members of your dynasty. They have to be if you want to eventually play as one of them. So if the spouse who's in your dynasty is male, then the marriage must be partilineal. If she is female, the marriage must be matrilineal. (In the rare case where both spouses are in your dynasty, it doesn't matter whether the marriage is matrilineal.)
@clumsyturtle85444 жыл бұрын

@btrekkie6 жыл бұрын
In order for you to acquire the Duchy of Sicily through vassal inheritance, your (ex-)grandson needs to be one of your dukes prior to inheriting Sicily. It's not enough for him to be a blood relative. It sounds like he wasn't your vassal, in which case you wouldn't get Sicily. However, if you can manage to make the grandson your heir or your heir's heir, then when you die and become that character, you will get the Duchy of Sicily. This is assuming that your grandson is part of your dynasty (i.e. he has a red blood drop next to his portrait). If the marriage between your daughter and the former Duke of Sicily wasn't matrilineal, then your grandson wouldn't be part of your dynasty, so you couldn't play as him.
