Hey dude, just wanted to write a comment telling you I freakin’ LOVE your guides! I’ve been playing this game more or less non stop since release, and every time I realize that I didn’t quite understand something in the game as well as I thought I did, say perhaps a certain game mechanic or something like that, your guides are the only thing I need to find all the answers I’m looking for. With time stamps and all! 👏🏻 Thank you so much for all the time and effort you’ve put in making your guides so well thought out and easy to understand. People like you are indeed the unsung heros that don’t wear capes and also the heros that build realms! 😁

I think you should judge non-tribal buildings by the effects they give on their starting to mid level tiers since those are the tiers you will be benefiting from for most of your campaign. Most campaigns do not go long enough for the tech level to allow you to build the highest building levels, and even when you do you will not be enjoying their effects for long before the game ends. For duchy buildings by far the most important level is the first one. For regular buildings it's usually level 4, that's what you should use as a comparison.

My favorite are camelry and regimental grounds that can be built in farmlands/floodplains. Regimental grounds is the only building that boosts heavy cav significantly. I always try to maximize levies from domain because money can be gained in many ways, but personal levies are crucial for rebellion prevention. Also, I dont understand the buildings that give 2% discount on building cost at their LAST upgrade!

Hi! The video was really helpful! But I have a question, and I hope you, or someone in the comments will help me with this. I'm playing in Africa in my current campaign, and just recently became feudal. My capital is in a county called Worodugu, which has 6 baronies, 3 of them are currently empty. Money is the biggest issue for me right now. I have a large army, and my neighbors are not much of a threat. But I'm not making as much money as I wanted. Now considering this, which holdings should I make in the empty baronies? (* I saw someone saying that theocratic temples are overpowered in ck3, but my main character's faith has the lay clergy tradition, and I don't know what changes this makes.)

Pastoral lands is nothing compared to Guilds and Harbors, its stretched to thin to be beneficial particularly for development. Although if you cant build anything else then i suppose its not a problem.

Looking on all these buildings it seems on paper like they are completely not worth the expenditure. You need to invest a shitload of money that will repay itself (in gold) in a 100 years or so. To sweeten the deal you get a 'whopping' bonus of +5% on some random stat and +2% on some other. Seriously?

I never could understand how to play CK2, would CK3 help me learn CK2, i heard CK3 is easier to play?
@RealmBuilderGuy
@RealmBuilderGuy 3 жыл бұрын
CK3 is “easier” right now simply because it doesn’t have all the content and mechanics of CK2 (yet). Getting into it now lessens the learning curve.
@kriscamps1799
@kriscamps1799 3 жыл бұрын
I would say it's readily accessible to any strategy fan. I've tried some Paradox games and their learning curve were way too steep and time consuming for me. Ck3 however has finally pulled me in and it's really enjoyable with all the RPG elements. I would definitely recommend it. The tutorial was all I needed to get me started. You can use Steams' 2 hour return policy.

This is a nice guide, but it's not as good as your others, unfortunately. First, you miss about a lot buildings, some you mention in passing, others you completely neglect. The ones you mention in passing are Quarries, Forestries, Regimental Grounds, and Watchtowers. You completely neglect the Elephantry, Camel Riders, and Manor Housings. Which is really bad because both the Elephantry and the Camel Riders both give +1 knights per 2 levels of building (meaning a level 1 and 2 Elephantry building has 1 knight, 3 and 4 have 2, 5 and 6 have 3, and 7 and 8 have a whopping FOUR bonus knights per building). I will admit, those 2 are probably the most limited (with elephantries being even more limited than camel riders). Camel Riders can only be built in desert, desert mountains, flood plains, or oasis locations (generally, they are limited to Africa and the Middle East), while the Elephantry building like is limited to jungle areas (mainly in India, but maybe a few in the southern part of the game Africa). I was looking (or hoping, since I'm a sort of experienced CK3 player) for more in-depth strategy. Second, you vaguely discuss strategy with buildings themselves (mainly limited to praising the Hide Tents for the bonus to Light Cav line). Light Cav aren't even that good late game (and if you're playing any Indian, at all). Byzantium will have light cav go sooner than most (and in 1066, immediately). Heavy Cav much better, and the Hide Tents do nothing to improve them. You also do a little praising of the Tradeport line of buildings. They're nice, don't get me wrong (and they are the first thing I build, unless the holding has a slot for the aforementioned Camel Riders, or the Guilds/Monasteries for city/temple holdings respectively). But the Development growth is (near) useless, because it works on a percentage. 5% of 0 is still 0. 40% of 0 is still zero, so unless there's something (say, Walls of Genoa in Genoa or maybe the Increase Development of the Steward) that grants a flat development increase, then the county with the tradeport will not gain development at all, be it level 1 or level 8. I prioritize economic buildings over everything else, because of economics. Let's say you have 300 gold (and you make .5 gold a month). You could build a military building that improves one (or 2) type of your military, or you can double your income (with one county) by building Farms and Fields. If you build the military building first, it would take you 600 months (FIFTY YEARS if my math is right) to get enough build that economic building. Whereas it would only take 25 years to gain the money to build the military building if you went for the economic building first. Although I think the base number is off. I can't seem to find the costs of the building on the wiki. But as far as strategy goes, In order (if applicable) goes Elephantries/Camel Riders, Guild Halls (which, since you can't hold cities, I end up never building anyway)/Monasteries, Tradeports, other economic buildings (in this order Manor Houses, Farm and Fields, Forestries, Quarries, Hill Farms, Pastoral Lands, desert agriculture, orchards), military buildings (limited to alternating between Barracks and Military camps, or both in non-desert hilly terrain Madrid and Granada are good examples where they get both), then Regimental Grounds, and finally non-Walls and Towers defensive buildings. I occasionally stick Walls and Towers (the only defensive buildings I ever build anyway) after farms and fields, depending on threat level. You also don't discuss strategy with Duchy buildings either, basically saying "build what you need." I'd atleast make recommendations, because while they are all powerful, not all of the bonuses are necessary, ESPECIALLY since you are limited (as a king or emperor) to 2 before you start suffering an opinion hit (so you could, depending on how people like/fear you 1 or 2 more), and if you have a realm size larger than 30 as a count or duke (although you can't even build duchy buildings as a count) you'll suffer overextension. So you need to prioritize. There are only 2 duchy buildings worth building imo. The Military Academies and Leisure Palaces. Because the Military Academies are the Elempantry/Camel Riders main benefit (additional knights) on steroids (really most of the duchy buildings do what the base buildings do on steroids), and the Leisure Palaces grant scheme success chance. Maybe I'm discounting the other ones, and that would have been helpful if you went in depth on every building. For example, in your Al-Andalus run, you're going for the Siege Works. I don't think they're all that good because if you have enough non-mounted MaAs and the Sappers Martial Lifestyle perk, even incredibly fortified locations like Constantinople would fall in months (when it takes years for anything less than bombards to take), and most places (even when the "Fort Level is too high") take weeks or days.

I wasn’t planning on going over every single building. It’s more about a general framework for players to consider. I do talk about going through the different buildings and associated bonus and then making your own decision based on your situation.
