The soundtrack was handled by Andrew Sega (aka Necros) and Dan Gardopée. Necros was a HUGE part of the 90's demoscene. Crusader was one of the earliest DOS games to use a .mod module based soundtrack, being my introduction in fact as I hadn't used an Amiga personally at that point. You just don't understand how huge of a leap it was over general MIDI. These games (Regret / Remorse) both had a HUGE impact on me back in the 90s, and my curiosity about how the soundtracks worked launched me into audio programming. Origin was a huge component in getting me off my lazy teen ass and educating myself for my own personal gain, instead of as an obligation. Fun fact: The installer for No Regret / No remorse was the first time I had seen a graphical installer with sound, all those before it being silent with standard DOS ANSI graphics.

Your writing and production are really good, you do a good job of covering these classic games, I hope you keep doing it, I think there is a demand for these kinds of videos with the resurgent popularity of retro gaming.

Thanks for the encouraging words, friend. 👍 I'm happy people are enjoying these. I had no idea there was *more* interest in retro gaming, but I do plan on going through old classics regardless. Got a lot of unfinished ones in my library too.

Good, gory fun with surprisingly good cutscenes for a game from that period (yeah, even the cheesy FMV ones). Glad I'm not the only one to remember and still play this old 90's shooter. I was thinking of doing a video on this very game myself!

I played ONE of the Crusader games, but I can't remember the name. No Remorse rings true in my head, but after seeing how janky and funky No Remorse looked and how relatively clean No Regret looked, and when you showed all the death animations, I'm pretty sure it was No Regret. But I had it on Sega Saturn, and I'm pretty sure they only released No Remorse on that console. Hmm! Also, the 8 player pvp game sounds amazing! I would have loved that shit. And Origin! Tony Zurovec! I can't believe one of the guys (probably LOTS of the guys) behind one of my favorite games when I was a kid is making what will surely be one of my favorite games when I'm a dying old man in a hospital bed: Star Citizen. I'm 38 and can't WAIT to play it when I'm 72!
@VoidbrandGallery Жыл бұрын
I can definitely say No Remorse was also on the PS1, because that was the only version I played as a kid. Someone mentioned recently that Tony Zurovec is involved with Star Citizen atm, which is pretty great he's still involved with the games development. It's just too bad we never got a conclusion to the Crusader storyline. But yeah as far as Star Citizen goes, your last bit reminded me of this panel 💀: i.imgur.com/Ubl4tYb.jpeg

@@VoidbrandGalleryNo Remorse for PC was released in 1995, No Regret in 1996 and No Remorse for PSX and Saturn in 1997. That is why the console versions include gameplay elements from No Regret, for example the forward roll. Console versions are much easier: on PC you start with a pistol, then upgrade to a better pistol while on consoles you start with an assault rifle, just like in No Regret. I like the smooth scrolling of the console versions, although they cut out probably half of the FMVs, and the ones from the Rebel Base were actually my favorite!

Fuck yeah, more Crusader publicity! No Remorse and No Regret are must-play DOS shooters. You feel super badass the whole time, it's full of secrets and shortcuts etc., and the soundtrack is amazingly good. It (No Regret, the sequel) comes with a 17 page text file explaining the game's story, sparing you no details. It's awesome lol go play them and be sure to read the manuals . I really wish Tony Zurovec would get away from Star Citizen and try to make a third Crusader game happen

I had a Gravis Gamepad, but I always used it with the Stick, while my sister would take off the stick while playing Fighting games like Mortal Kombat. I actually honestly wish it had a Thumbstick now. I was too much of an Arcade kid, so I liked using a stick rather than a pad. Actually now that I think about it, my sister would play Fighting games in the Arcade against others, but would use the D-Pad at home. Also she was really good until she got into High School and declared that Video Games were for babies, and stopped!
