The thing that amazes me is if you run a remote your untouchable! We had a guy in St. Paul slam his remote unit into the side of an inbound train at 15mph damaging his unit and derailing the inbound train. They told the FRA it was a "box failure". The Conductor operating the remote didn't even serve a day. I run thru a switch, not on my locomotives within 10 minutes of being on duty, or do not have my power out of the round house in 20 minutes I looking at time. It's total crap!

Not surprised the yard jobs work on their own channels and the CP Yardmasters always treat you like you know everything about the yard and make everything seriously confusing. Typically they won’t even get you a cab ride to the yard office.

It is safe to say that human error are the major cause of a whole lot of these train crashes! Along with drugs, alcohol usage and fatigue from a lack of proper rest! The hours of service laws does not help train crews like it should.train crews working with defective rolling stock, locomotives that. Needs to be given maintance, track conditions as well as weather conditions.all these. Will gang up on a train crew and in most cases can be fatal!in order to cut down on these fatal crashes, more training as well as being aware of your surroundings and watching out for. Possible trackside hazards is essential to preventing these fatal crashes from occurring.Follow the Rulesof the rail! Always watch out for the signals along the right of way!stay alert stay alive!

The SD60M's are fine. The GP38-2 plowed into the IHB GP40-2. I can't believe they did this twice in five months. They obviously didn't address the core problem, that remote engines are inherently dangerous.

@@ddblink02 oh, at first glance I thought the CP unit involved was a SD60. But I would agree with what you said, they probably jinxed themselves last time the had a wreck in that yard, which for some reason was not long ago from this one. If the first ad is extremely boring I may even pause that. Ad doubling does not necessarily mean you will double your ad revenue, as often I will exit before both ads get played. On Union Pacific, they gave those boxes to switchmen and when they did they wanted to be paid like engineers. They thought they should be paid more for taking an engineers job. UP and even the UTU didn't buy that. So when they got rid of the hog heads, and gave them boxes, we called them organ grinders. They would show up with a kid and little switchman mini-me to pull pins and run up to the tower for switch lists cause they weren't gonna get out of a warm car.. They had to bring a kid because try as they might a monkey wouldn't work in the rain or snow.
