0:59 Actually, Phil, Rev passed away before he even had a chance to record the drum tracks on "Nightmare," and the band brought in Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater to play the drums on the studio recording of the song and they'd offered to have him in the video for the performance scenes, but Mike declined citing it was too soon after Rev's passing, but he did tour with them to promote the album

Bat Country is what put Avenged Sevenfold in the mainstream with TRL. They won an MTV award for best new artist beating Rihanna, James Blunt and Chris Brown. You should check that one out. There's also a video of them winning. It's pretty funny to see everyones reaction in the audience lol

The Rev (Jimmy) was arachnophobic, so when they filmed the spider portion, he was a major trooper to have to go through that. If you watch Nightmare again, the spider crawling all over the drum set pays homage to this video. Also, Jimmy wrote Afterlife

3:02 Hey Sam and Phil, seeing as you said you reacted to Nightmare, there's a couple of Easter eggs in the Nightmare video that originally appeared in this music video: The tarantula crawling on Rev (timestamped above) And guitarist Zacky Vengeance (the Lefthanded guitarist) doing ballroom dancing with his then girlfriend, who would later become his wife Also, it needs to be said that Rev had a major case of arachnophobia, which likely made shooting the scenes of the tarantula crawling on him much more difficult

its good you know The Rev didnt play in the other 2 AX7 songs you listened to. Because AX7 were never the same after the Rev died. City of Evil still is the best album imo from them but the self titled "Avenged Sevenfold" (this one its from this album) isn't far behind. From there on i tried to listen to Nightmare but i didn't get the same feel, the crazy drum runs were gone and sometimes it shows how influential a musician is. And i agree , this is probably their most "poppy" song , and that section is cut , listen to the full song :D
