Props to Mike Portnoy for stepping in to such a sad time for the band...The drum part during the guitar solo is one of my favorite beats EVER....RIP Rev...

RIP to the GOAT, he's the reason that I got into drumming. Portnoy is the dude for stepping in

Imagine having such a great drummer, that f’n portnoy stepped in for him!? Mike was my goat for the longest time so it just made it so surreal that someone that good filled in voluntarily

It's a shame that it had such a destructive consequence on Dream Theater though. Thankfully Portnoy is finally returning to Dream Theater after all these years away from the band.

Jimmy passed away on December 28th 2009. "So Far Away" is a great tribute song which was originally written by syn for someone else but was repurposed for Rev. "Fiction" was the last song that Rev had written and he gave the CD with the demo of the song to his bandmates 3 days before he passed away. The nightmare album as a whole is a beautiful story and it being the first album released without The Rev makes every song feel more significant.

Been a die hard fan since "sounding the seventh trumpet". Here's an essential list to get you started. 1. Warmness of the soul 2. Unholy Confessions 3. Chapter 4 4. Desecrate through Reverence 5. Second heartbeat 6. Bat country 7. City of Evil 8. Seize the day(highly emotional) 9. Trashed and Scattered 10. Almost easy 11. After life 12. Dear God 13. A little piece of heaven 14. So far away 15. The stage Their new album is......different.. but highly enjoyable still. They have never been afraid to try new ventures and paths in music. I'd r3commend their new album only to advanced listeners with open minds to wildly new and disturbing concepts. When I say disturbing, I don't mean grotesque, I mean in a way that will literally make your mind go deep into existential thought.

Great Reaction! I am a 68 yr. old mother of 3 (now grown) children. My youngest son has been an Avenged Sevenfold fan since he was in high school so I have heard a lot of their music, and actual enjoy much of it. When my son went to Marine Corps. Boot Camp right after he graduated H.S. their song "Dangerline" was especially haunting. Fortunately, my son did not experience that outcome. But, the song is still one of my favorite Avenged Sevenfold song because it pays tribute to all of those young Americans that did pay the ultimatel price for serving our Country. I would live to see your reaction to "Dangerline". As always, I look forward to seeing more of your reaction videos.

The tattoo on his hand is in tribute to The Rev (it has his hairstyle and facial structure), and the video is inspired by one of his favorite films, Jacob’s Ladder - good call on the horror movie vibes! As others have said, I think you’d really appreciate one of their newer songs, Cosmic. It highlights all the best parts of Avenged Sevenfold in my opinion - their raw ability, songwriting, and production are on full display. Great video!!

1:27 "If I'm Remembering Correctly, The Original Drummer Had Written A Number Of The Drum Tracks For The Album And They'd Used A Different Drummer" You're correct, Phil Rev did indeed write the drum track for this song but had died before he could record it and then band had got Mike Portnoy from the band Dream Theater to fill-in on drums Originally in the music video, specifically for the performance scenes, they'd wanted to have Mike included in the video, but he'd declined, feeling that the fan would've felt like it was too soon after Rev had passed to havr a different Drummer in the video

If I'm correct, this video clip was made for The Rev, 'cause it was based on his favorite movie, "Jacob's Ladder", that's why at the end of the clip there's his drum set. You can also see the video clip "So Far Away", all the clip and the song were made to honor him. I would also recommend you guys, those songs: Dear God, Buried Alive, This Means War, Shepherd of Fire, God Hates Us, A Little Piece of Heaven, Second Heartbeat, Unholy Confessions, The Stage, Seize the Day, Bat Country, Not Ready to Die, Requiem, Heretic, Planets, Welcome to the Family, Natural Born Killer, Afterlife, Critical Acclaim Great reacts!! That it involves murder, cannibalism, necrophilia, zombies, a mass murder and a wedding shouldn't scare you away. :D Honestly, if I find myself getting married it WILL be played at the reception! Just maybe not the "first dance" :)
