Daniel King recently made a DVD on the King's Gambit. My son really wanted to have it. I was sceptical at first, but I let myself be convinced. King's Gambit lives!

Black chooses a solid defensive set-up, but then aggressively opens the center when his opponent has a lead in development. That was a bit more than the position could handle.

Great game. It would be awesome if you could make more videos of aggressive games of Nepo.

I don't know how dangerous the king's gambit is. But I know how dangerous Nepo is against anyone but a very few top players. I also believe Black has better chances in the 2..d5 Falkbeer variations. In a 1988 simul Bent Larsen lost in 14 moves against a 1700 player in the Falkbeer, which is amusing considering Larsen's own remarks in his book "Sharp Openings", released a few years earlier, that the Falkbeer is dangerous for White if he doesn't know the theory.

When I encountered King's Gambit as black, I always played the line with 3. ... d5 and never experienced any problems. This line seems to be out of fashion, though. I wonder why.

I thought Ne7 was already busted, by Bronstein amongst others, years ago! What's wrong with the old 3)... g5 for black !?
