12:06 "What is the purpose of betting $300 here?" Bart throwing darts!
@Mark-u3s8s4 ай бұрын
Really sorry about this call guys. Didn’t think that Bart would upload it because I was all over the place, but I’m happy he did. Main reason I called it in was to see if I should have turned this into a 2-street game by making the raise bigger on the flop since I was more deep with villain #2. After Bart mentioned the bigger straight on the turn, I realized the play was probably to just check despite the sizing on the flop. Anyway, I was kinda nervous and tripping over myself since this was my first call. Also, I’m a recreational player so that doesn’t help either.

Calling in and giving hand histories is the only way to get better at giving hand histories. You'll come to find that all the details matter. KQ is a significant portion of BB's range, but after the fold on the turn, it's not so bad. The river card is wildly brutal, but without seeing the showdown, I'm of the opinion that a fold is in order (especially given your player read), but I really wouldn't blame you if you called. KQ isn't in UTG's range too often. For the future, keep in mind that effective stacks are stacks belonging to the person with the least chips in it. As long as that player's in, then you can only win that much heads up. Where it goes multiway, effective stacks change based on whether that person folds or goes all in.

You did just fine man. Don’t sweat it
@EllieBanks3334 ай бұрын
You did great. I also thought you played it decent. Your sizing on flop was just a tad small, but definitely not a flawed amount. I would have jammed on turn though. I was not as concerned with KQ as Bart. KQ will usually open pre, rather than limp. And on this flop it is not that likely to donk from first position multiway. I mean... UTG could have limp called KQ off, then flopped too good to escape [although it really should fold after you raised - but almost no one will ever make this play]. The river is boring, even with the supposed "pot odds". Trivial fold.

Only clean run out for a straight is you flop the nut end of the straight and the turn and river add to the dummy end of the straight. So 7 card nut straight. I will always say a flopped straight is one of the hardest hands to play multi-way, as everyone else can draw to a better hand but yourself.
@matthewmille4 ай бұрын
I had a similar hand one time. Had 89 suited and flopped this exact straight. Checked to me. I bet big and villain called. Turn was a queen so now I have the sucker end of the straight. He checked. I bet big, villain called. River was a king and he leads all in. Now I lose to any ace. Sick runout and had to fold.
@Young-ep8ik4 ай бұрын
Doesn’t sound similar at all. The villain in your hand has a lot of bluffs that you beat, unless his allin also gave you something like 6 to 1 to call.

I don't think KQ makes that much sense. I think it's nearly always a check-call on the flop and a shove on the turn. That board should hit our range pretty well, it would seem odd for someone to do that with KQ. I think it is more likely a made hand. Also, I agree with Bart here that even sets, or JT don't make sense either. When the villain makes this bet on the flop, I would imagine it's something like JT/J7s/77 wants to get a raise and getting it in against likely overpairs or folds out some hands with equity (although the bet is too small to accomplish this). Or the bet at least would get rid of the caller between you and the villain. They should ship those hands given stack depths once you raise on the flop. I think it is one of those hands by the river, I just don't understand why they didn't go all in on the flop. I really don't think it is KQ. In any event, I think you made the correct fold. It really makes no sense for the person to be bluffing here given how you played the hand and there are like no value hands you are beating.

Yes the SPR is low enough to call off but that's not the only consideration in the game. Suited connector type hands that go multiway like this can be a disaster. This is possibly the best example of this. You gotta be so careful with this type of hand multiway.
