For an $800 head unit, I was expecting more. A lot more. For starters, that's a 800x480 display and there is NO excuse why its so low res. None. My Garmin GPS with 8.5" screen is 1280x800 and it looks great and is cheaper. The adjustable head doesn't adjust to the left so the driver can see it better and that's a shame because 99% of the use will be from the driver. Why is this such a hard concept to understand? Lastly, its laggy. All I want is a high res head unit with carplay so I can get rid of my GPS on my window and use Google Maps. Why TF do I need to pay DOUBLE to get a high res screen?

Hold up...The display resolution is only 800x480? No wonder I keep reading reviews with people complaining about how blurry the screen is. I thought it would've been at least 1024x600. Sony is bogus for that, but I guess they think people will continue to just go by the Sony brand name, but I won't.

Is there a way to manipulate the icons? For example, I'd like to put the most commonly used icons on the first page.

You will need to sort through the preset Sources and Settings select keys.

So will my stock Toyota backup camera plug directly into this head unit or will I need an aftermarket camera?

Sometimes there are adapters that make it so the stock backup camera can be displayed on a receiver like this one. We are happy to check if we have any for your Toyota. What is the year and model of it?

@ it is a 2017 Toyota Prius one, just the base model. No JBL sound system.

Since its a base model, that means it also came without the navigation system, right?

Can I use the alpine hdmi/usb extension cable with this unit? To route the ports inside my console where the og usb port is? Can I connect a fire stick to this unit?

We're glad to check. What is your exact Alpine cable model number? What is the year, make, and model of your vehicle? While the firestick can be connected via HDMI, you'd have to consider power and WiFi needs as well.

Hi Diego, you may want to start by checking the USB extension cable connection if this is a recent issue. Keep in mind, the USB port does not support connection of Android devices via MTP or AOA 2.0 or USB hubs or card-readers. If you got the radio here, you can call our Tech Support as well. We are not able to research Skoda vehicles to know if the radio can be replaced, and if it can be, what parts are needed to install it. We are only able to research vehicles released in the U.S. market. Wish we had different news for you there.

Looks great. But I can get a Chinese android unit for half the price and half the bezel size. And if I am connecting android auto/carplay, performance is based off my phone. So performance differences either

For safety reasons, video from the HDMI input cannot be displayed on the receiver's touchscreen monitor without the vehicle's parking brake engaged.

Question, that’s a 13-14 f150 dash kit. What wiring I need to install that head unit ? and I don’t really care about sync. Only need to keep the steering wheel controls

Here is how you access WebLink on the XAV-8100: "Download the WebLink Host app (for Apple iOS 13.0+ or Android OS 7.0+) and connect your compatible iPhone or Android smartphone to the Sony receiver's USB1 port to access select apps such as KZbin, Yelp, and Zomato through the Sony receiver. The apps must be downloaded on your compatible mobile device and can then be accessed through the Sony receiver's touchscreen using the WebLink interface."

Will this fit a 2008 Chevy impala I have shifter on the dash ?

Hi Corey, the chassis depth on this model is a bit too deep to fit your Impala. For any of the floating screen models though, you'd have to take a look to verify the monitor won't interfere with your gear shifter or anything else on/around the dash. Would you like help choosing another option? If so, what features do you need?
