Russian President Vladimir Putin met his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian in Turkmenistan on October 11. The two leaders are in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, to attend an international forum with other Central Asian leaders. According to Russia’s Ria Novosti, the Russian president told his Iranian counterpart that the two countries share views on international events. Putin told Pezeshkian that Moscow and Tehran’s positions on international events are often very close, according to Russian state news agency Tass. Putin also invited Pezeshkian to Russia, which is going to host the 2024 BRICS summit in Kazan on October 22-24.
