Today on Dave's world I install and test the go fast bits diverter valve. I was able to find one that can work in the second generation CRUZE. I originally bought this in an attempt to help kill the big turbo flute noise found in the CRUZE big turbo swaps. I tested the go fast bit GFB version and go over why this one and the BNR bad news racing HPRV are important.

The HPRV is a true diverter valve that actually opens. Def needed if your dumb like me an keep pushing those boost numbers up.

So I have a 2019 Chevy Cruze LS. I have so far added a cat back exhaust, throttle body spacer, recirculating valve and a tune obviously. The car runs perfectly but I had to make some modifications, first of all get a tune up, and second of all replace the throttle body pipe as soon as possible to avoid an underboost code because the stock pipe is trash. It will make you car sound like poop. I have to order a pipe from Pegasus racing in Wisconsin. It didn’t take that long to install I might do a video on it. Also make sure your tuner gets your files updated because mine stated I had an air leak which was my throttle body. My codes were P0299 and P1101. I would also recommend getting more transmission oil changes and not exceeding 3k miles per oil change. My car has 70k miles in 3 years of owning it and that’s my main codes I’ve had.

I’m probably going to upgrade my turbo soon, it’s around 2k and I’m going to upgrade my engine valve springs, cylinders the whole 9 yards. And then I’m going to update and add an inter cooler as well. It’s going to be around 2-3k to get everything working perfectly. I’m trying to push 300-400 hp and then probably engine swap it with an ls4. You can only get so much hp out of a 1.4L

Yea those codes are very common. A lot of people contact me for help with them. Your car sounds like a nice healthy build. What does that company charge for those pipes I make the same kit for the oem intercooler.

so my takeaways from this video are: 1) if the Go Fast Bits diverter valve is good to use on the TurboBay turbo (judging from what you said at the end), isn’t it also okay to use on the BNR turbo? and 2) just to confirm, using the HPRV on either big turbo application does NOT get rid of the noise?

HPRV does not get rid of the noise. I don’t know any info about the BNR turbo but have people in my KZbin membership who I ran tests with that confirm the GFB did kill the noise. Still waiting to see long term effects.

Hi Dave, got a question is the 1.4 in the Cruze the same as the Opel Astra 1.4 (B14XFT) and did I understand it right would the gfb actually harm the factory turbo?

I have a diverter that fits that engine. The GFB does not open fast enough for the air to escape so you get that weird noise.

@@shaunreek3526 it does for some applications because it’s the only thing available. I’m not trying to compete but in the United States if you watch the video you can see what it causes I don’t know if there’s a difference between the two turbos but it does cause a few issues. That’s why I for the USA application I came out with something that works.

It makes a cool noise but just be mindful that I think the factory turbo will not last as long. The factory thrust bearing is very small.

@davesworld2132 I plan on keeping my stick turbo for a little while and I need most inexpensive way to assure I won't cause damage to my car now that I have a boost control valve.. having the boost control tool valve open fully and getting on the throttle with everything stock am I going to cause damage to car? If yes do I need a diverter valve and what is cheapest one? Please I am new to turbos

Mine flutters like that one time after startup im not sure why than afterwards it wont do it anymore.

@davesworld2132 17 cruze stock diverter but it is bnr tuned with a short ram intake the only way it will do is if I let off the gas fast as to make the blow off sound. I just think it's weird it will only flutter once than never again until driven again Maybe the stock diverter corrects after that first big push of air release not sure

If your getting a flutter your electronic part of the valve is worn. But the GFB will also create that same noise. The HPRV doesn’t.

When you switch over to a big turbo it creates a flute type noise. If you’re not running a big turbo it works good.
