A quick overview on replacing the AC clutch/coil on a 2012 Cruze LS with the 1.8 engine. This is a much cheaper and simpler method vs replacing the whole AC compressor. I bought the kit from RYC compressors.

Great video. The belt tensiiner has a hole that will allign with a slot on the engine. You can lock it in place with a sized allen wrench which will allow ease of belt onto tensioner. Then move tensioner to remove allen wrench.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I recently ordered the same product from RYC and am waiting for it to arrive. Your post was very helpful, as I was curious about the difficulty of the installation process. I appreciate you taking the time and effort to share. It seems that buying a refurbished coil from RYC is a cost-effective solution compared to purchasing the whole unit new. I have searched for other options, but I couldn't find any. I also noticed another post on Amazon where the product was refurbished. After reading RYC's product description on their site, it shows as a refurbished unit. I hope that your replacement resolved the fuse issue, as my current coil is not engaging at all.

I'm glad the video helped. This did solve my problem and the fuse no longer blows and my AC still works fine to this day. Hopefully it goes well for you!

This is such an EXCELLENT clutch change walkthrough video. There are other ac clutch change videos on much bigger channels, none as easy to digest 😂. Well done buddy! I specifically appreciate you not torquing the nut to spec, and not making a big deal of it! Because, no one that would be watching this video has an adjustable torque wrench anyway. 😂

thanks for posting this video. I saw a video where the clutch is replaced with the ac compressor off the car. i knew it was possible to do the replacement with the ac compressor still on the car and you just confirmed.

No problem. On some cars you don't have enough room to do it while it is bolted to the car but luckily with this one you do have plenty of room. It's definitely doable by yourself with the right tools. Good luck!

Looks like you've got some refrigerant oil in the middle where the spline goes. Mine is currently working, but the pulley bearing wails all the time (AC on on or off). And there is refrigerant oil sprayed in the clutch and around the area a little. I was hoping to just replace the bearing, but I'm unsure of the bearing size.

My fuse blows as soon as I turn the AC on, could this be the issue?
@paulcherry1520Ай бұрын
Wouldn’t know why it would blow the bearing out of the replacement clutch coil and then replaced with the stock one and now it’s humming ( going bad )

Really good video Directions are very well described Although have you replaced the bearing ? Thanks in advance 👍

Mine will run for about five seconds, and blow a fuse is that similar symptoms you were having
@DIYAUTOCARКүн бұрын
@@Alex-mq3jt yup. Exactly. I changed the clutch/coil and all is good.

Do you have to extract the Freon for this ?
@DIYAUTOCAR24 күн бұрын
@@tonlytes9393 nope. That's mostly why I did it this way. None of that to deal with since what you are replacing is external.
