Because stablecoins like USDT are not actually stable. They are pegged to but not backed by USD. DeFi is growing but it doesn't mitigate the credit risk which was the reason for any debt crisis.

Imagine relying on a bank to take out your funds when chaos happens, with crypto you can keep your assets in a stable coin or a few and deploy it a lot easier. The gov needs to stop making people report everything they do with a stable coin or crypto in general. We want the power of our own money, and money isn’t what you classify it as it’s what we classify it as. Who would want to hold their assets in USD that loses value over time. If you have little money I could see why you don’t see the difference but damn it’s the future and the gov.
