What an adventure swimming and snorkelling in Ewens Ponds and Piccaninnie Ponds! With their incredible structure, crystal clear water, and almost alien algae, these places are so otherworldly! While I was in Mt Gambier snorkelled these spots a few times and really got the chance to explore their nooks and crannies.
Safe to say this is just another reason why Mt Gambier is South Australia is one of the most amazing dive locations on the planet. We are so lucky to have it so close to us!

You can do it. Take it slow, start in a pool with a mask, fins and snorkel. Just work on getting comfortable. It could take time but what do you have to loose and look at all you can gain. I was about 10 years old when I went to the beach in California. I was swimming in the surf with a mask and fins. I was afraid to put my face underwater and open my eyes. But I tried it once. I saw all the kelp, it was dark looking underwater. It scared the crap out of me. I could not look underwater unless it was in a pool. But I have wanted to scuba dive almost all my life. Because my dad did it and I would watch Cousteau on tv. I eventually took a scuba class and got over my fear. You can do it.

I was put onto this by KZbin algorithm. It looks amazing! The clarity is absolutely crystal, and I love watching this. I'm a total novice, I love the water and try to swim at every opportunity. I have a short wetsuit, snorkel and fins and I live near a lake. Theres shallows and the clarity is pretty good. I also would love to travel and dive lakes too. (By the way, I subscribed.)

When you get the right day summer day you can throw 20c coins and can watch it fall all the way to the bottom the water is so clear. On these days all the fish are out and its amazing-same with Piccaninnie.

Great viddy! You should go diving out in the Kimberly in WA! If you go to a remote enough place (like sections to f the Drysdale or Carson rivers you can see tons of freshies, and the black brim are so sheltered from humans they’ll come and start nibbling on you like one of those weird fish pedicures. They’re pretty dumb fish-an unbaited hook is all you need to catch them, but, lucky for them, they taste pretty rubbish.

Hey, great videos and great to see a really special experience through the eyes of a free diver. As a cave diver I feel really fortunate to have experienced so many of the sites in this region. I do struggle to understand the animosity towards scuba divers from the free diving community though and would love to hear your perspective. Though our motivations are similar and likely different in some areas I certainly hold no reciprocation of that sentiment but would love to try and understand what it is about scuba that is a problem within some parts of the free diving community. Much respect.
