HELLO!!! Sorry for the prolonged absence, I have been pretty unstable and trying to find the ground lately. I appreciate everyone’s patience, understanding and kindness during this most difficult time. ESPECIALLY with the holidays coming up, feelings and situations have over complicated themselves and the burden on my heart has only gotten heavier. To see all of your wonderful words of support, love and encouragement has been a great source from which I have pulled strength and I want to let you all know that in this community we are more than friends, we are a family ❤️ I do not take that lightly.
ALSO!!! A big BIG thank you for voting in my last post! I appreciate all the recommendations, I will come around to also making a video on Real Love + Free as a Bird after we get through all the way to Revolver.

I'm 66, I saw them perform of the Ed Sullivan Show that night (2/9/64), saw them at Shea Stadium the following year, and was delighted with every record, every film, every appearance. It's reaffirming to see other generations enjoy and appreciate their music as I have for all these years.

There was plastic music then. The Beatles even made a few plastic songs in the early days. There will always be plastic music. What happens is survivorship bias: the good stuff survives, and the plastic stuff doesn't. That doesn't make plastic music bad, it has its place. And the strong music that survives lives on with us. Appreciate the Beatles. And appreciate the young musicians carrying the torch forward. There is great music from every generation.

@@error.418 Of course, if one makes an effort to look one can find something good In every period but surely the current productions are quite far from the quality, both vocally and especially instrumentally, from the Bands of a few decades ago... just a few minutes ago I heard a Dire Straits song on the radio, Shall we talk about it?

@@maximobenatti6110 "but surely the current productions are quite far from the quality, both vocally and especially instrumentally, from the Bands of a few decades ago" Comparing Beatles in their prime with whatever is top of charts whenever is rarely a reasonable comparison. It takes time to see what will survive. There is plenty of good music today that doesn't take much effort to find. The point is more that it's a fruitless effort to complain about pop music as literally every generation complains about their pop music and points at the stuff that survived from previous generations as "superior." And your personal taste won't always align with current trends. And that's okay. Instead, spend your efforts spreading the joy of the music you like. That's always worthwhile.

Til There Was you is from the musical "the Music Man." It was he 2nd song they performed on Ed Sullivan, Feb. 9, 1964, to try to win the parents over. Meredith Wilson, the composer was really impressed they did his song and sent them a telegram care of the Ed Sullivan Show congratulating them. Wonderful analysis!! You're a pleasure, as always. As for their brilliance with covers, it was all of those hours and hours of playing in Germany and the Cavern Club that helped fine-tune their interpretations so that by the time they made it into the studio (or on a worldwide stage) they could play them effortlessly and totally in their own style. The young, pre-fame Beatles put in such an enormous amount of work and sweat (with their long, long bar gigs) that by the time they had become huge and had to show up for a 20-minute set on TV or stage it was a total piece of cake. (I'd love to see your reaction to their superb first film "A Hard Day's Night.")

That "Hold Me Tight" song is just so much fun! It is very reminiscent of the Girl-groups that the Beatles loved so much, like the Shirelles and The Ronettes, but from a boy's perspective. Also, you gotta like how they break the song down with the tribal drums, on those hot and saucy breaks! Paul is being a major flirt on those parts, haha! The Beatles were getting "Bratty" and cheeky with this one, that's for sure!

I always enjoy your analyses of the Beatles' songs. I know that I like the songs but you have a way of explaining exactly why the songs are so good. On 'Don't Bother Me', the additional percussion you hear is possibly the claves that were added. 'Not A Second Time' is probably the best song on the album; you really nailed that one in your reaction and comments. As a composition, it could sit comfortably alongside any of the songs on 'Rubber Soul'--an lp that wouldn't arrive until two years later in their development. Keep up the good work. By the way, I appreciate your sense of humor (such as the 'Chipmunks'-effect on your voice that pops up so unexpectantly during the video). It always makes me smile. Thank you for that.

"Not a Second Time" is, in my opinion, a hugely under-rated song! It's so moody and angsty. Even as a young boy, when I first heard this song (thanks to my older siblings record collection) I knew it was a serious vibe and I was so captured by John's incredible voice! Plus, in later years, after I had been a musician for several years and knew more about music, I also saw that this song has a really nice Bass-line from Paul that carries the song perfectly. He has a little 16th-note riff that he does in the verse that is so choice! Ugh, such a great song! BTW, Robert Palmer did an excellent version of this song in 1980 and it was a single on that album, with a video and everything! You should check that out!

Very nice analysis young lady and nice too see you in good spirits. The Beatles were the kings of covers, they were always better than the originals. First two on the record here Lennon's vocals are amazing, what a voice! Paul's "All My Loving" is an early Beatles classic. John kills it on the rythym guitar playing triplets, not real easy too do, he was a great rythym guitar player and George adds a wonderful rockabilly guitar solo. Do you realize how young they were on this album. John and Ringo were 23, Paul 21 and George 20. They were kids but very talented kids indeed. John again kills the vocals on "Please Mr Postman" what a cover with great harmonies by Paul and George. Love this song ! Again on "You've Really Got A Hold On Me" a Smokey Robinson song, John voice is incredible along with George. Another great one and when Smokey Robinson heard this he was flattered and said he was a little embarrassed of his performance of his own song. Love "Devil In Her Heart" also, another cover by George with great backing vocals by John and Paul. These guys worked out all of these harmonies out of their own heads, amazing ! Last "Money (that's what I want) a cover of Barrett Strongs 1959 song. Once again John tears up the vocals with great backing by Paul and George. Until next time, take care young one. ✌️☮️💕

I've often heard arguments about which band was better, The Beatles or The Rolling Stones. The best answer is that the difference is the artistic qualities of each Beatle over each Rolling Stone. Individually, John, Paul, George, and Ringo can hold their end in vocals and harmonies. You seldom hear any other vocals other than Mick Jagger in Stones' recordings. Now, that's not to diminish the fact that the Stones tunes are real rockers. The Beatles were more experimental in sounds and techniques. Which band is better? I'm just happy we had both to listen to.
@steelers6titles

@@williamkambeitz5801 The Stones were better, technically, as musicians; Jagger and Richards, at their best, equalled Lennon, McCartney, and Harrison as songwriters. Mick was (still is?) rock's greatest frontman. The band's longevity speaks for itself. But the Beatles, after their impact as a cultural phenomenon, changed pop music from the inside.
@williamkambeitz5801

I disagree with your assessment that as musicians, the Stones were better. Throughout their careers, each Beatles album advanced the Pop music genre. They had positive affects on countless future musicians that continues to this day. Even though The Beatles, as a band, ended, the individual members continues to produce top selling records (McCartney and Starr.) Technically, the guitar work of the core group was better than Keith Richards. Ronnie Woods and Mick Taylor were better than Richards. And for that matter, so was Brian Jones. I'm not trying to throw dirt on Keith, he's an awesome player, but a better showman. While the Beatles put out a wider array of music, the Stones stuck to blues based rock. As a pure rock n roll performance, the Stones proved their longevity, but their live performances never matched their recordings. The Beatles quit live shows because the fans in were so loud, the couldn't hear themselves play. The early Stones albums tried to copy in some ways what the Beatles were doing. A lot of that was because both bands collaborated in the studio. We looked forward to each Beatles album just to hear what George was going to play. We, later, learned that Paul played many of those leads. Also, the Beatles could harmonize as all four took turns with the vocals. Jagger sang 99% of the Stones tunes. I could go on with the recording innovations of the Beatles, but it's difficult to separate them from the work of George Martin. I don't mean that I didn't like the Stones. They are a great band and great performances. But, the subject was who were technically better. Beatles by a long shot.

Hey Crystal, if you ever want to hear what the Beatles sounded like in Hamburg, listen to the Live at The Star Club 1962 Bootleg here on KZbin. It's like listening to the Beatles going punk. Its the best early Beatles record to me hands down. Also, I would love to hear your reactions to John, Paul, and George's first solo albums.

I love, love ,love that someone your age digs The Beatles!! I'm watching you soak up each song like a sponge. The cool thing is, the more you listen to each song, the more layers you find. Back in 1964-1967 The Beatles were doing things musically, harmoniously and using chord progressions that no one had heard before... they were truly pioneers. They were "self taught" no musical training what so ever. Yeah, they did record many covers back then... "Mr. Postman" being one of my faves. But the thing that separates The Beatles from other bands.. then till present time, is that they were just 4 guys that wrote their own lyrics and played several instruments in their own recordings. Not many "artists" can

A long time ago, I heard a story about the second song, "All I've Got to Do." I'll try and remember it as best I can. One day at the end of a recording session, John said, "I've got something more." He reached into his pocket and pulled out some crumpled paper which was "All I've Got to Do." I may not get these numbers exactly right, but it was something like this. They recorded it in 14 takes of which 10 were false starts because the other Beatles had never heard it before. After that, it was never played in any concert or mentioned in any interview except once when the interviewer asked about it. This beautiful song was in their focus for just a few hours one day and then never again. Very few performers in history have had a level of talent such that masterpieces are common and no big deal.

I was 7 and an uncle gave me “The Beatles Second Album” ; so Roll Over Beethoven was the first Beatles song I ever listened to. Please Mr Postman really jumped out of the record player ( still love it ). That album ended with She Loves You, so after that, of course I immediately went back and listened again and again. “With The Beatles” was relatively unknown in America until the late 80’s, but glad to say my first experience of them included a lot of these songs.

On song 2 that driving rhythm guitar was John. He was actually proud of that. On song 1 with John singing that is the kind of music John loves. Old rock and roll, doo wop, Chuck Berry, Elvis etc. His later more trippy stuff is so loved and adored by many of his fans but in a 3 hour interview with Rolling Stone magazine after the breakup in 1970 he said he didn't listen to any of that style and still liked the old basic rock and roll he grew up with. So it got me thinking. The newer stuff was really good too but us fans would listen to it all the time and it became a part of our lives and we consider it important. But to John he threw them together in a day, recorded it and then never listened to it much after that. Makes me a little sad in a way that perhaps he died not knowing how much it meant to so many of us and he thought most of it was throw away rubbish. I don't know I guess it makes me feel a little guilty liking it so much and thinking John was writing it because he loved it too but claims he didn't at all. But then again with John you never really know and need to consider he was his own worst critic.

this was the first album i ever heard. it belonged to my older brother and was eventually handed down to me by default. (we had the american version "meet the beatles.") its one of the few albums that can still transport me to special place and time. this album launched Bealtlemania throughout the world. "Help" and the shea stadium concert was the HEIGHT of beatlemania. after "Help" the beatles transitioned into a more "mature" and contemporary musical style. this album is just fantastic. their energy and enthusiasm is equaled only by their musical and singing talent. george's "roll over beethoven" is still one of the BEST chuck berry covers ever and "hold me tight" and "little child" are two very underrated lennon/mccartney songs. still don't like "til there was you" though. yuuuck! but the rest of the album is just kicks ass.
