I've never had a standard set of Ernie Balls that last more than an hour - their Paradigm sets are much better, but ultimately we couldn't reach an agreement that worked for both of us in terms of sponsorship. D'Addario are as good as anything else I've tried and I have a very beneficial arrangement with them to get strings, and many other products in their catalogue, whenever I need. Plus their 13 gauge strings have a wound 3rd and that's all anyone need care about.

Why not polish the frets before applying product on the freeboard? (Honest curiosity)
@ScienceofLoud2 жыл бұрын
The product is wax based fretboard conditioner. As the polishing process involves wet sanding with micromesh I wanted the wax layer to resist the moisture from polishing and prevent the metal particles from penetrating the wood grain. Applying the product before protects the fretboard against the polishing and makes cleaning up after it easier.

Just noticed the part you filed the frets. Is it normal for the frets to go dull after filing them?
@ScienceofLoud2 жыл бұрын
Filing involves removing material with a course toothed tool, those course scratches will scatter light leaving the metal looking dull. Polishing involves gradually reducing the size and depth of the scratches allowing light to reflect off the surface without scattering, making the metal look shiny. If you've filed the frets you will need to follow up with polishing to restore the surface.
