Great year for music. My favorites were Cheap Trick's "The Flame", and Breathe's "Hands To Heaven".

6:31: In the weekly charts, Steve Winwood's Roll With It kept Breathe's Hands to Heaven out of the #1 spot but on the year end charts the latter was ahead of the former by a notch at # 9 & 10 respectively.

He has 5 singles on the year-end chart which is the most singles that cracked the year-end chart of 1988. Other artists who also dominate 1988 include Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Richard Marx, and INXS.

George Michael's 1987 album Faith generated 6 Hot 100 singles, not 4!

@barrydavid6634 , "I Want Your Sex" peaked at #2 and "Kissing a Fool" peaked at #5. Plus, "I Want Your Sex" cracked the year-end chart of 1987. The 4 consecutive #1s were "Faith", "Father Figure", "One More Try", and "Monkey". George Michael, along with Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, generate 4 consecutive #1 single in one album in 1987 and 1988, but Michael Jackson was the first to generate 5.

Fun fact - the top 3 songs of 1988 all debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on the same week: Oct 24th, 1987. #17 and #92 also debuted that week.

All the songs reached top 10. Nowadays the charts are super slow because most music stinks. Nowadays i dont think there are more than 60 songs reaching top 10.

Actually, I Still Believe by Brenda K. Starr peaked at #13. It was the only non-Top 10 hit in the survey.
