Tony Robles' analogy at 32:50 is a good one. It makes me re evaluate my how I look at the table before running out. Just because you can run several balls doesn't mean you should if you can't get out.

I would MUCH rather watch the pros play 8 ball than 9. I enjoy trying to figure out which one(s) in the group they will choose to run out. 9 ball: well, I wonder what ball they hit next said no one. I do enjoy the safety play in 9-ball.

Love watching these guys play 8 ball. I know 10 ball is the harder game and it's what they like more but it's nice to switch it up and see how they approach run outs in 8 ball. Shane makes it look so easy.

Why do they run out 10 ball more if it's harder I agree with what ur saying but idk I run out 10 ball 2 out of 10 games I do 8 ball 1 out of 20
@RuFi0000000
@RuFi0000000 Жыл бұрын
@@drewmonroe4641 I think they're hard in different ways. 10 Ball tends to have longer shots and tougher position, as well as more movement with the cue ball - you have to play perfect position and be able to place the cue ball anywhere on a dime in order to play good safeties. It's pure pool, it's all about hitting shots and using the right spin to get position. 8 ball has more strategy and lighter touch -- the shots and position are easier, but it takes more mental energy as it requires more thought, such as: the path to the run-out isn't going to be apparent with each rack, you have to figure out how to deal with your problem balls and breakouts right away, or save them for your opponent, and you have to figure out how your opponent will play their shots according to the layout as well as thinking about your own. There's also a little more pressure, since at a higher level you _have_ to run out or it's over, no hiding the cue ball if you mess up position with 2 balls left. I think that might be why you run out 10 ball more, there are less variables, less hurdles. It just depends on how well you can hit shots and control the cue ball.

Why winner's break? 8-ball is too easy for top players (with these rules) to do winner's break in a short race to 8. Also, many players traveled from really far away to play in this WC, and they might not get a chance to shoot at all with winner's break. I think alternate break would have been better.

Tony said we (Puerto Rico) pride themselves on playing 8 ball but what he failed to mention was that we play a waaaaaay different mode of 8 ball called "enchulao". This has a VERY strategic approach where as in America 8 ball is play 8b any pocket and everybody breaks with the intention of running out on their FIRST time at the table.
