He was talking about how he focuses on improving his process of doing things, and I was saying that I've always thought of the outcome as the important thing. Loved the end story about you loving on your grandma-that must make her so happy. Love hearing that!!! I may be an ESFJ but I seem to have Se more in some kind of trickster slot (didnt even notice the suit till I read the comments lol! And then I find suits and tradition to be so suffocating) But I do really relate to the hoping for recognition from the family- story of my life as a teen. I went into a kind of depression because no matter how much I did for my loved ones I felt unseen and couldn't make the family happy. Be careful ESFJs. My ISFP husband social engendered me by making me feel terrible on a consistent basis shaming me anytime I didn’t make him feel good about himself and allowed him to do whatever he wanted. He would breadcrumb me with the rare occasion of giving a wonderful beautiful shared experience that made him feel good. Because he did this rare good thing he expected to shirk most of his responsibilities. Our value system obligated me to stay married to him despite emotional abuse and of our children neglect. Getting out of that relationship was terrifying. Se rage combined with their strong Fi emotions can become violent quickly. Do trust checks set and enforce boundaries with people before you become loyal and give your care to them.

Ugh, process oriented to the max. I HATE trying to talk to my ESFJ husband about remodeling. He's been fighting me tooth and nail because I want to leave some of our elderly and cool looking ceiling joists and beams exposed. Why would I have bought a 150 year old farmhouse if I wanted to live in a suburban sheetrock box? FINALLY I find out it's all because the only process he knows for wiring the ceiling fixtures and plumbing the upstairs bathroom is to run the wires, heat ducts and pipes along the joists above the ceiling. It's so hard to convince him there are hundreds of different ways to get the result you want. I've been wondering about his arguments, because they always seem to sort of mimic Te. He'll say a certain process is more expensive, more work or takes longer. Then he'll turn around and offer to break up a cement patio just because it's in the way of his plumbing process. It doesn't seem like he's really using Te at all, but something else entirely.

Smile at an ESFJ, be interestd in their opinion, show them and describe what you are intersted in, they'll catch that they want it and you'll feel the duty to help them get it even if they don't pay for it. When they realize they're picking up the item if its an item they'll be mad at themselves because they knew they were being manipulated and will turn it into a covert contract and a control based reaction to let you know you depend on them

47:30 what a beautiful thing to be able to feel and mean about one’s parent. I’m pretty sure this is my abusive “dark empath” Munchausen mother who proxied me’s personality type. It was always so gross how she never did anything not expecting thanks or a gold star. There was rarely an opportunity to originally express appreciation because it was always extracted before I could’ve gotten to it. I know my experience is with a terrible example of this type if it is this type but sounds like these people are not cut out to be parents. What kid wants a parent who provides in exchange for praise rather than because that’s a parent’s job? The kid is the one who needs some praise once in a while. Process Vs result? That's difficult, I think everyone would think they're result cause you don't make a house to be making a house, you want a house. I mean some people like to build but you know what I mean. So how would you know which of the 2 you are? I can be sorta perfectionistic but also kinda rushing to get things done. The way i and I think many people work really depends on the the thing you're working on. I spend 10 minutes on this one thing just to get it done, but 3 days on the other to get it done.

Make a big effort to try to understand where each is coming from. If you are typed correctly you will naturally want to compete with each other on who is the better thinker, who is the better carer, etc... Do not compete or expect the other person to be something different in order to fulfill your needs, try to understand the other person instead every time there is a conflict. You both will need a lot of maturity to make it work and get rid of silly disfunctional behavior. When there is a conflict, that will reveal an area of misunderstanding or disfunctionality.
