Fascinating explanation of how I can be free to "go my own way" as an INTP. It will be met with resistance frequently. But that is natural because it is new. And that is the way that TPs are natural leaders. Not by trying to be. But simply by being authentic and showing people that there is another way.

Thanks for sharing this point of view regarding mindset Chase! From my observation, when a TP type cultivates a growth mindset, they do seem to possess a leadership quality that can motivate others to do the same. As an INFP always wanting to grow, I couldn't help but listen to this video lol. Thanks again and hope you are doing well. 💜

I give you this one. A lot of the actions I've taken to grow as a person and professionally come from my dear ESTP brother and some other ENTPs. With my own experience ni hero literally create their own path, make their life and ofcourse they are very successful usually not always. But unlike TPS we don't try a bunch of new stuffs randomly it's not trial and error for us, so we wait for se feedback and observations to make sure sure we don't make mistakes what others did. So we learn from the the trial and error of TPs I have always been the trend setter,first they ignore then laugh then they follow. My diet to my skincare to my relationship everything Im an infj and Unlike TPS I'm not outwardly rebellion but from inside I'm.

I know you already know this but I'm explaining this to those who don't.What you said applies to the most typical cases for each of the 16 types. In reality, it's much more complex. In certain cases, nurture triumph nature. I have Fe parent and I used to think based on the social norm years ago, but now I rely way less on current social norm to dictate my thinking. It's because I know current social norm is not based on truth and yeah I've adopted social norm but because my Fe parent is more developed, I choose what social norm is the most accurate and if there isn't, I just do what I think is good for the people and just do my own thing. The problem with typical FJs is that they have underdeveloped Fe or Ti function . It's funny to see how there're TPs who think based on social norm without verifying most of it because other nurtural Influence/other function is influencing their judging functions.

I think the best example in media of an ENTP with a growth mindset is the main character of the hit soccer anime Blue Lock, Isagi Yoichi. He literally built himself from the ground up in terms of soccer skills. His signature theme is literally puzzle pieces. Constructed and deconstructed at a moments notice once he has learned something effective, useful, or game-changing.

Chase, some clarity please! You have previously said that the INTJ is THE self improvement/kaizen (meaning 'continuous improvement') type. Meaning they are the ones constantly seeking to improve themselves and grow. (You could say this is their mindset). Now you say, TPs are the growth mindset types. Logically speaking, do these statements not directly contradict each other? Do you still stand by your original statement, or have you changed your mind after gaining more experience? How is it possible that the INTJ could have a mindset specifically for continuous self improvement, yet still be among the fisrt types you rule out as a growth mindset type, simply for having Te? I'm not seeing your logic here, please explain! And if, by any chance, your explanation is, "these are 2 different types of growth mindsets" or something along those lines, then why didnt you explain this in the video? And how are they different?
@TokyoTaisu
@TokyoTaisu Жыл бұрын
Elevation and growth are two different things indeed. Lots of growth comes from failing and the wisdom generated with that, while elevating / improving doesn't necessarily have to be. Example. Bodybuilding. The INTJ would paint the picture of the perfect body, research a routine and start continuously pumping heavier weights to get the desired result. This could be completely autodidact. TP types would go explore and connect with people and try and fail and try again and get to know a lot about powerlifting, olympic lifting, stretching, gym fashion, current social norms, feedback loops etc as well. And maybe figure out they should not bodybuild at all but stick to Zumba.

Interesting video and I actually agree. The only inaccuracy I found was when you said that FJ’s only think within what is socially acceptable. For me as an INFJ, that’s not true. I think a lot of things that are ‘cutting edge’ and not socially acceptable, but I definitely don’t share those things if I feel they will not benefit others or will have a detrimental impact. When I do share my ideas that are ‘uncomfortable’ for others, it’s because it will improve them more if I do.

Chase could it be that regarding the fourth turning, that every generation has more or less occurences from a certain type. As mother - kid seem to have opposite type there could be generational cycles in personality distribution as well. ISFJ moms spawning ENTP sons who marry INFJ spawning ESTP who marry ISTJ spawning ENFP daughter spawning ISTJ son for example. 4 temperaments in 4 different generations. And there are 4 turnings and 4 dominant temperaments.

I disagree with the conclusion that FJs cannot create new social norms/re-shape the ones existing. I believe UD FJs which have been forced to focus on their own Fi can develop their own sense of what is moral and afterwards preach and externalise those morals with their Pragmatic TP subconsciou's Fe. What I also believe is that Chase is far too familiar with this reality regarding UD FJs, however still chose not to mention it/not to think of it. That's what I believe is true, be generous enough to correct me if u know otherwise.

Yes, but being comfortable in it is not a pre-requisit for me to know it's true? Only that I will be less hasseled for living my truth. I disagree that I only form my opinion around truths based on societal norms, I do agree that living out these truths is something I struggle with if I don't have clear examples. Regardless, I push through and suffer in my confusion about how to live it out because it's still true! I may not do it in style like an NT, but goddammit I try.

Actually after thinking about it I think I disagree because you apply normative facts to cognitive functions. I think the functions with pessimistic attitudes should determine their ultimate role. My argument is this: 1. the best outcome is through nurture as opposed to nature, because nurture grows more. 2. pessimistic functions are stronger further in life because it is more painful to use and therefore you grow more using it. Therefore, Fe pessimistic should determine the social norms, but it should be based on Ti pessimistic truths.

I don't understand how it impacts pessimism and optimism of the function. If you attach optimism and pessimism to different sides of the mind, then all of these functions has an equal amount of pessimism. Therefore it would be polarity reversed due to cognitive focus, which again is not down to type but also cognitive focus - my point stands.

I disagree with the INTP type being the ''fatass in his mother's basement'' type, here are my arguments: 1: We INTP men are around 2% of the population and I am pretty sure basement dwellers are more than 2% of the population and that INTPs are actually rare amongst those due to our small part of the population and for reasons below. 2: Ultimately we do get principles through Ti and the influence of the Inferior, principles such as ''Being a low life is bad, for me, for everyone else and from a 3rd person perspective'' and ''Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself''. 3: We like to be independent and deserving of what we get, accountability. Living without deserving to live would make us feel like absolute trash. 4: If everyone would be low lifers life would suck very bad, from a Ti perspective not working to contribute would be hypocrisy. Only the most unhealthy and depressed INTPs would be basement dwellers, probably because they are troubled or kinda done with life. I always have been working, even in elementary school, in my first job I was working up to 95 hours a week in onion fields and doing so many different tasks that included leading two teams of 8 and driving farm equipment. Of course what I mentionned in this paragraph is just my experience, but i can tell just from that that being a low life is something I always avoided and looked down upon since it did not meet my principles, all ordinary Ti doms would avoid that. We are the closest thing to ISTPs, I think it is time people stop seeing us as lazy, weak bastards and actually meet us irl, if you would meet me you would not even think for a second that i am ''Beta'' and ''feminine'', after all I am phlegmatic-choleric (Common temperament amongst INTPs, makes sense due to our shadow) and at least in the top 10% in terms of mass and height, I would seriously damage your average ESTP with a single right hook.

I'm not sure this is entirely accurate. Many FJs I know stand against the social norm if it is hurting someone they care about. The growth mindset of TPs depends on truth, but what truth means with regards to social norms is essentially down to the Fi of others. Using truth to create social norms requires an extra step to infer what the truth means. This may be different for different people. I would argue that TPs' "truth" growth mindset is too influenced by how they perceive what is right. It could be based on efficiency, peace, or freedom, or other values, which they absorb from the people around them. So I disagree with the claim that TPs determine social norms entirely, and that these norms are fair simply because TPs can see the truth. Moreover, the right social norms should be decided through communication between all participants in the society. The way this is communicated in the video is dangerously pessimistic, imposing what is on how things could be. Perhaps in the future you could include a comment on how each type can contribute to the social norm, on top of describing the status quo.

They make other people more responsible with their values to the point it doesn't lead society to corruption, that's their perspective. It's always from the perspective of trying to make other people better as a whole and make other people achieve more. Notice how Fe function is a reflection of Te? Te user wants to achieve more, Fe user helps other people to achieve more. Most FJ nowadays are not quality FJs and same goes to any type. Quality FJs based on the context of this video, adopted social that's the most accurate and will keep updating themselves with new inputs to make sure social norm is not corrupted and actually reflects truth because they realize what makes people grow and become better is the truth itself. Fi dom have Ti demon so by default they see truth as evil and because of that they want to create a new form of truth that reflects their personal values as a form of a guidance for other people thinking. What happens if they're not being responsible with their values? well society becomes corrupted as a result because they're the first one who ignore the "current" truth entirely. FJ guides high Fi users so they ca create a more complete principles that reflects truth that people can apply.

The “being an example” thing isn’t fully true, ppl don’t want to be like tps, ppl only adhere to certain norms created by tps that benefit them. Also every single type creates social norms and “lives by example” by just existing, tps do it by challenging the opinions of others. People actually want to be like fps out of all the types as they adhere to their own values which are more individualistic than logic and can be seen outwardly because of te- which as it develops has massive impact. The behavior and lifestyle of tps comes off ugly in society and no one wants to be them but their social norms are accepted as they should be because it’s basic logic.

I’ve noticed entps I’ve met to be so inconsistent, lying about everything, and what they promote and what they do only align 50% of the time yet they are supposed to be “examples” yeah right. Tps seem to have that the rules don’t apply to me mentality yet they are making the social rules

@@Hottdiggitydogg i will go answer each question you have point by point. everything does have a cause, and effect this is true. what matters in this case is if it has negative or positive effects (this can be quite subjective) as a negative in the moment can become a positive in the outcome or vice versa. taking away suffering from people, and their qonsequences is not always the best thing to do as this leads to decadence. (this is happening in the west at an alarming rate). although consequences can be used as excuses this should be fought with hard facts, and truths that have a broad scope of accuracy. a growth mindset is the ability to overcome hardships, and thus integrating yourself (IE not shunning your shadow instead listen to it). it gives you the necessary answers to your problems/shortcomings. the shadow is a direct reflection of what you neglect about yourself example FE, ethics creates a FI reflection which will constantly make itself known through negative thoughts, and actions. balance is necessary. the reason CS joseph thinks TP's are the ones with a growth mindset is, because they have the most trouble within the current society to reach this point. it is extremely difficult for TP's to be accepted, because by nature they deny society. i define growth by the integration of the four sides, which will lead to a whole individual capable of all aspects of human congition by making the unconcious concious. this implies overcoming hardships. i can give an example how recognizing truth itself can help you. lets say you lack self worth. most people who lack self worth are correct in their conclusion. they have no control over themselves, their actions, thus leading to negative qonsequences for themselves, relatives etc. this makes them feel worthless to themselves, and others. to fix this is by first recognizing the problem (your unwillingness to take action) your shadow will tell you why you feel the way you feel. if you are afraid of social settings try to have small conversations with people its really simple in theory, yet people are too afraid to act on this. start small (say hi to the bus driver) then start a small conversation with a cashier. build up from there. small steps do wonders. thats the way i overcame my FE inferior fear this also trains my ability to initiate. i HAD to recognize my shortcomings to confront them people have different problems i agree, but you can apply this to pretty much any shortcoming/fear you have.

Ti operates within the illusion that objectivity is possible and thus become enslaved to believe that their facts, or goals... have value. When in actual fact, attempting to use logic to define REALITY is a trap. True reality is awareness without applying logic through thinking ( attachment to labelling). You try to divide reality into bits and pieces to create models to represent reality but then mistake your models for fundemental reality. It makes no sense. All this is useful for is small games. But what are you expecting to win? REALLY. When what you win is made of the same fundemental substance or lack thereof as your goal. How could they really MATTER? How's the world of growth and goals going really? It's a hidden in plain sight HELL and you would only KNOW if you could FEEL it. As what your community would abstract me into as a psychedelic ENFP.. a supposed entity, an assumed identity. I see a carnival with people playing silly games, and what they're hoping to win and getting uptight about doesn't matter. It's haunting to watch humans..and at other times funny. Philosophy is a fools game because you are endlessly dependent on thinking you can arrive at truthful conclusion through reasoning and abstraction. You just create endless questions. Infjs get stuck here all the timmmeee. The moment you contemplate you lost. The answer is to not think about it. Just realise what has and always will be, become aware. PURE MIND. But Ti takes pride in the act of Trading one model for the other endlessly without seeing what happening. And call me whatever you want for not thinking it's real too. You try to contextualise the field of mind into some sort of objectivication, forgetting your own place in the process, your responsibility. You think the objectivication is solid and that aknowledgement of the field of mind is abstract. But one will always be, and the other is temporary and can not last. And then you say that enfp doesn't care about the truth? This is nonsense. What is growth? What are goals? Taking how it ALL IS into account, and I mean everything, the very opposite of nothing.. what even makes sense to WANT? We already have and are everything. Society and thinking and NORMAL is creating division and separation from truth through identification with labels and forgetting the higher spiritual truth of NOW. You say enfps don't care about the truth but I couldn't disagree more. I'm just one who found out how to describe things honestly. (labels are for people who don't understand what's going on, BULLSHIT.. but I can use them in this game because I know it's bullshit) I use the illusion to get back to source, dwelling with source, aka awareness is primary GOAL. What more can you grow into than everything? I used psychedelics to let go of identification with mind over many years, healing myself, because the WHOLE collective effort of the first worlds human system, science, and other religions and all its many experts with proud years in institutions, is INSANE, could not understand how anything fundamentally works.. admitted it to me and asked me for MY help. When I was as teenager supposed to be there for their help! The root of this human insanity always comes back down to the same thing, though it's presentation in form is myriad. There is no objectivity from within the mind. Read that again and despair all you Ti types. You operate from a faulty premise and I come before it. To get the truth clear. You DEFINITELY don't need logic. You are the microscope and the thing you breaking apart verifying. But you forgot all about it. How embarrassing!! if you operate from the assumption that the phenomenon of mind is reality you will be stuck in a hamster wheel with no fulfillment.. With no SLACK. The only thing that has reality is the field of mind itself.. From within it, to assume that what you "thing" is real, is to be already stuck within several layers of subjectivity. This is all a trick of the light.

The world works in causality, Ti also works in causality, we do not try to define reality, we simply try to understand it the most and the best way to do that is through causality, again, Ti... Our facts and goals have value because they often are about improving stuff. Awareness without logic means not seeing all the underlying determinants, being mislead and mistaking factors for causes. True reality is impossible to perceive in the moment.

@@rpoutine3271 true reality is impossible to perceive in the moment" correct. But that does not mean it is impossible to perceive true reality. Eternity can be accessed NOW. But it is not an iterative extension of now lasting an infinite amount of time. But a static temporal point pervading time. We can zoom in or out. Ti types zoom in. You think the moment is all there is. And since that is what you are manifesting that is what will be true for you. Until you are ready to go beyond your limited perspective defined by time.
