I would see your ads in the back of magazines as a kid in the 80's. and wonder who the crazy guy slicing massively thick rope with a 6" tanto was.... lol. My late father would say. "He appears in his own ads to PROVE he can put his money where his mouth is regarding his product, He's probably a great boss...." Mr Thompson, yourself and Nick Young (Desert Tech CEO) are the main reason I tell people that America still knows how to Build with quality and customer service at the front. Proud owner of a Tanto Lite, still saving for an all black Tanto, but this is probably next on my wishlist. Thank's from a happy British Cold Steel customer.

Not a marketing guy, not a spokesman, not a pre sanitised official statement.... The CEO himself made it right. He stuttered and bumbled, not reading from a script, just absolute honesty. Sexy blade for sure but if I'm taking a 12" blade into combat ....?..... It's going to be a Cold Steel Kukri. The deadliest, most safe handling weapon in the world.
@ericsierra-franco78023 жыл бұрын
A kukri is only good for chops. It's not good for thrusting. I would take a Magnum Tanto XII any day over a kukri.
@redfaux743 жыл бұрын
@@ericsierra-franco7802 - I have to be honest, I'm a huge fan of the Tanto Magnum Xll myself however, saying the Kukri are not piercing weapons is crazy wrong. Especially against the Tanto Magnum Xll. Maybe you've never used one? The Cold Steel Kukri go right thru ribs just as easy piercing as any other blades and their piercing cut is as wide as an axe. I took Bando (Burmese martial arts, Ghurkas) and their blade specialty was the Kukri. That's why Lynn Thompson made the Ghurka Kukri under the "tutelage" of Grandmaster M Gyi. He was our instructor. It is definitely a piercing weapon. It cannot match the piercing of a stiletto thru incredible armor but it is close.
@ericsierra-franco78023 жыл бұрын
@@redfaux74 Perhaps, but a kukri will never match a sword for thrusting.
@redfaux743 жыл бұрын
@@ericsierra-franco7802 - Again, I would disagree. The diameter of the hole would be at least 4 to 5 inches. I'm not sure what sword matches that without being 4 to 5 feet long, extremely heavy and unwieldy Once the initial thrust is made on 90% of swords the length of the blade is immaterial. A Kukri can be quickly recovered for follow thru strokes. Or twisted out for many more wicked cuts. All weapons have pluses and minuses. But over all I think the Kukri has unmatched potential if you know how to use it. The sweet spot on the Kukri is its greatest strength. It makes the deepest cuts for you with the least amount of effort. All blades cut but most blades need extra effort to sever limbs. The Kukri can sever even the thickest limbs effortlessly. They were used to cut from the upper shoulder, neck to the lower waist. That's a lot of bone and 80% of all inner critical life giving organs.
@ericsierra-franco78023 жыл бұрын
@@redfaux74 You make a compelling argument for the kukri. And maybe in the hands of a highly skilled user it can excel in all the ways you describe. But I am nevertheless highly skeptical of its ability to thrust. The design is not conducive to it. I still think a competent swordsman would have the advantage over someone wielding a kukri. The thrusting advantage combined with the reach advantage of a sword would be extremely difficult for someone armed with a kukri to overcome. Additionally, your hypothetical scenario assumes that after someone was run through with a sword they are still going to have the ability to counterattack with their kukri. In all likelihood they are done! The fearsome cutting powerful of the kukri is undeniable, but we're not talking about cutting down trees; we are talking about man to man combat. And in this respect, for most people, the kukri is a "one trick pony", so to speak, imho.
