I love the Tanto XII. I have a Bastinelli Shoulder rig for my fixed blade knives. I carry a Bastinelli Raptor for my left hand in a forward draw. And I also carry the magnum Tanto II for my right hand in a reverse grip. It’s my favorite set up for concealing fixed blades. It’s pretty much a mini sword you can carry.

I’ve just subscribed, and enjoyed your analysis of the new CS Magnum Tanto XII in it’s new steel, the CPM3-V. Having bought three CS San Mai of the Magnum Tanto XII in years past, and given them to my children, I’m most impressed with the reviews of the new, which you have admirably informed more, and newer people. Today, before watching this video, I’d just purchased from Amazon, two of these new Magnum Tantos XII’s in CPM3-V, for me. In the past, I’d have to buy from CS, new leather sheaths. For self defense, in a hostile environment, the leather is quieter, but is not as durable. Yes, the San Mai is more weather resistant, but the leather was not. Mounting the leather sheath was most impractical, hence love for the new adaptable sheathes CS has finally adopted. If you have the right ingenuity, the Magnum Tanto XII can be carried concealed, comfortably, and ready for duty. Matt, the CS Magnum Tanto XII is designed for speed, precision, and ease of use. Like other CS blades with the same handle, the Magnum Tanto XII indexes properly- for just about all hand sizes. Unlike most knives, the handle is oval, rather than round or nearly square. Also, the texture of the grip excels in it’s ability to grip and hold under situations that will never be experienced by most knives, or users, for that matter. Wet/dry, cold/hot, combinations thereof, the weapon that is the CS Magnum Tanto XII is at, or near, the top of most combat knives. I have carried the two of the Ka-Bar D2 Extremes, and they are superb fighting knives. Their steel may be the only one that is superior to the CPM3-V. However, design-wise, the CS Magnum Tanto XII is more versatile, as a fighter, though not the “survival” knife that the Ka-Bar D2 Extreme is. In that blade, I heartily recommend the straight, non-serrated edge. The founder of CS showed in his videos, the “snap cut.” THAT is an extraordinary, and deadly, use that other knives cannot so easily attain. It is yet another reason for the purpose of the CS Magnum Tanto XII- speed and precision. If one can attain a book by the late Christopher Grosz and Michael Janich, “Contemporary Knife Fighting,” you will see the beauty of the CS Magnum Tanto XII in it’s ability to lethally serve those that wield it. That one book should have changed, and advanced, the use of the blade, whether it be box opener, stiletto, Bowie, Tanto, or sword. We’ve all heard the meme, “Slice, dice, julienne fry- GINSU!” With the CS Magnum Tanto XII, this is easily achievable. It is a FIGHTING KNIFE! It is one to fight one’s adversary at “long distance.” Remember you must expect to be wounded in a knife fight. The lightness, speed, and precision of the CS Magnum Tanto XII helps to reduce your exposure to another’s blade. Like the knife itself, the CS Magnum XII, I give you Five out of Five Stars. Would love to see you demonstrate it’s versatility. Perhaps you have a butcher shop, with meat that has reached just past it’s end date, and you could show the power, precision, and controlled

- precision, that are the trademarks of the CS Magnum Tanto XII in CPM3-V. IF in dire straits, I’d much prefer this over the CS San Mai III Magnum Tanto XII. If you have one, put it in a shadow box, and enjoy it’s past. Instead of thinking of “newer” and “better,” get the proven design and efficiency of the CPM3-V CS Magnum Tanto XII. You won’t regret it… Fine video, Matt. Looking forward to more CS offerings in future! All the Best to You and Yours. When the difference between life and death is quality, remember Cold Steel is there in the top of the group. Don’t forget the CS Magnum Tanto XII in CPM3-V,

Thanks so much for such a detailed response! Though I think I would still prefer 3v over D2 I agree with just about everything you said! Hopefully I can do some more testing vids in the future. Thanks again!

It is a great fighting blade that penetrates with a cut just like the back cut of a large Bowie knife. It slices exstremly well and is maybe the best penetrating stabber in the world of knives, Knives from 9" and over allways chop like crazy, this blade cuts your arm clean of. A good fighter blade must not be to heavy and these blades are fast and that is the most important thing when it comes to knife fighting. You can cover your whole body with this and just use your wrist. And the wrist is much faster than the arm. The special secondery tip of this btype of blade is what penetrates clothes and skinn when you slash and cut. A normal blade have big trouble doing this, thats why they used the lethal back vut withe the Bowie knife. But this one does it with every cut. I love L

You definitely got scammed. No way this quality is getting matched under 200.
@FriedPi-mc5yt2 жыл бұрын
LOL! These Cold Steel knives are made in Taiwan, not China. The quality control is better on the Cold Steel knives and the San Mai steel for Cold Steel knives comes from Japan. Your $25 clone is no where near the quality of the Cold Steel knives. I’ve seen the clones and they are garbage. Gaps between the blade and guard. Trashy rubber handles that peel. Go hack on a tree branch with yours and it will rattle when you’re done. If you think your $25 clone is as good as the original, you don’t know a damn thing about knives and you don’t have a good eye for what makes a Cold Steel knife better than any $25 clone crap.
@ericsierra-franco78022 жыл бұрын
You're out of your mind! Firstly, the Magnum Tanto line has NEVER been made in China. The San Mai versions were initially produced in Japan until Cold Steel moved most of their production to Taiwan. Secondly, the initial CPM-3V versions with DLC were produced in the US. Now both San Mai and 3V (non DLC) versions are produced in Taiwan.
