Hi! I am disassembling my fzr 1000 motor, and I'm on step 13:58, so I have to separate the motor blocks around the crankshaft now. But they're stuck! I'm sure I took all the bolts etc off, but still it doesn't split up. How did you get them off? I'm afraid I fuck up the block :( A really big thank you for doing this video, it would have been a lot harder job doing this by learning myself. And I already found the main issue of the motor, my connecting rod bearings are blown!
@ChrisSofos Жыл бұрын
I couldn't possibly tell you the reason, as I'm not there to see the engine. Just go once again along my video step-by-step and double check something that you might have missed! For example the crankshaft covers on both ends at 2:49? Then check at 11:10 some more details. I'm guessing you removed the oil pump? The torx bolts at 13:43? Have you removed all the bolt from the upper as well as the lower crankcases? If it still doesn't want to come, then light taps on the upper crakncase with a mullet, trying to push it upwards. This should do it! Let me know how'd you go!
@jukke96 Жыл бұрын
@@ChrisSofos Oh yes, there was one bolt still unremoved :D It's completely disassembled now, and I learned how to check which color main and conrod bearings I need, from your videos! Thousand thanks to you!! Now I just need to buy new parts and start assembling everything back!

Hi I got my first bike fzr1000 1989 I just Wana know can I use the car engine oil in fzr1000 is it a dry clutch or wet clutch please can you tell me what should I i do?
@ChrisSofos3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Congratulations on your FZR! I adore that model year! All FZRs are wet clutch. But please DO NOT use car engine oil in your FZR (or any other motorcycle). Motorcycle engines are more demanding when it comes to oil as they rev far higher than cars. Also, the gearbox and the wet clutch are lubricated by the very same oil their pistons and cylinders are. And the wet clutch doesn't like car engine oil at all. Use a good quality motorcycle oil. Mineral, semi-synthetic or full synthetic. All three are good, as long as you change it when you have to. All the best with your FZR. I hope you enjoy it🙂

Thank you for the good video. the engine looks very good, Why dissemble it?
@ChrisSofos3 жыл бұрын
If you see all the videos from the beginning, I mention that the 3rd cylinder had very low compression. I knew it was the valves, but then I decided to do the whole engine for three reasons: a) To make sure this engine will be in perfect condition for at least another 25 years! b) To have the personal satisfaction of restoring it! c) To help other people with my videos to do their own FZR engines ;)

If you mean the starter motor clutch, then I'm afraid that I have some bad news. Unfortunately, you have to split the engine apart :(

I think you are talking about the pick-up coil (or crankshaft sensor). This is on the right side of the engine. It's right above the crankshaft end. Go on the 10:07 of this video and you'll see me removing it.

@ChrisSofos3 жыл бұрын
@@grantwoolhouse8625 3rd cylinder had extremely low compression (close to zero). Then I thought: I'll keep this bike forever, so why not go all the way down to the crankshaft and make the engine brand new?
