After major success with the TMC’s it’s time to create yet another one with a Flxible though.This video has major imperfections and a new video will be released 6-5-21 with better footage and commentary.
The 1991 Flxible metro b is a exception to the CTA’s fleet after 30 years the bus is getting the love it most definitely deserves!!!!

These were my #1 favorite CTA buses growing up as kid back from the mid 1990s and 2000s. I remember seeing these buses on bus routes such as the #72 North, #65 Grand, #74 Fullerton, #54 Cicero, #85 Central, #77 Belmont, #52 Kedzie/California, #82 Kimball/Homan, #12 Roosevelt, #49 Western, #62 Archer, #95E 93rd, 95th, #30 South Chicago, #87 87th, and #20 Madison and many more. Good ol times seeing these buses in Chi Town. I miss them 🙁.

@@Dluck26 I agree I wish they would bring back a TMC,Flxible, and a Man Americana on a route and have the transit enthusiast go on a goose chase to see it run again like the old days.

@@Dluck26 One of these days a new Cta president might step in and say “Hey let’s get those 30+ year old buses and restore them so we can run them on the streets for a several years and then sell them to the Cta enthusiasts who wouldn’t mind maintaining them after.

They went 18yrs with no rehab even though they were slow as molasses at the end of their career they were reliable

Touché. I agree these buses sounded good with the Detroit Diesel 6V92 with the Allison V731.

These were my buses growing up, i usually rode these on the #119 Michigan/119th, #111 Pullman/111th/115th, #51 51st (Rode some Cummins 5700's), #14 Jeffery Express (now #J14 Jeffery Jump), #106 East 103rd, #108 Halsted/95th, #95W West 95th

From 2001 on up I used to see them commonly on #111 #119 #103 #34 sometimes #3 & 4 and most out of Chicago and Kedzie Garages,

Back in the late 90s, I was always curious why certain routes based in 103rd Garage solely used this bus. I later realized because these buses were the only accessible bus in the garage and those routes can only run accessible buses. N5, 34, 27, 28, 95E, 111, and 119 are the only route remembered being accessible at the time along later with 106.

Yea the Flxibles were indeed used on those routes due to that reason. The Americanas weren’t accessible like the Flxibles & TMC’s in some cases. The Americanas would be soon transferred to North Park sometime in the early 2000’s

@@JGTVideos Right and some of them were transferred to Forest Glen until retirement around the time when the Nova buses were being delivered to 77th and Archer.

It was bro but I seen some errors that was worthy of fixing, since I proclaim Good-Quality reviews and videos I figured it’s in my good interest that I fix these mistakes not to mention that I rushed to get it done ngl.

Another error Chicagobus made, 5545-5764 had 6L71TA engines. Flxible stop offering the 6L71N back in 1987.

Cummins L10 is a nicer engine but 6V92TA & 6L71N or TA Detroit Diesel Series has a the sound that most of us like

I do plan on working on it after I finish the revised 5300 review,the Flxible metro E’s, and the 1985 Man Americanas that CTA ran.

@@09tahoeppv go on youtube type in bus crash pillar you will have to scroll down a bit but somebody filmed the rescue effort of the first reponders getting the passengers off the bus and trying to free the operator who was pinned behind the wheel i was surprised that only one person sadly died due to the extent of damage to 5530

1st CTA Flxible Busses that Both had A/C & Wheelchair Lifts, the Headsigns were Clear at Night & Operators Still had those Shitty Drivers Seats & had the Single Passenger Seats on the Right side, just like on the TMC Busses. We had the Single Seating on the 150 Flixible Busses (2500-2649) that were Delivered to then RTD (Now Metro) in the Early Fall of 88. RTD Replaced the Single Seats with Double Seats in 1991.

Yeah those old school driver seat cta didn't get busses With air-ride driver seats until 1995 when they received the 6000 series metro E flxible and the 5800 series new flyer D40lfs

I think these were used on #28 Stoney Island and #15 Jeffery Local or #43 43rd. Otherwise I don't remember these well

Absolutely correct. These guys were well known on #28 from delivery there’s a picture of 5300 posing for photos near 69th and Stony Island In May 1991.

I was on a bus like this going to school. It broke down. The engine revved,the bus jumped and the engine died. I had to walk to school. Edit: I was on Ashland 9 bus.

I remember a few breaking down on two different routes with two different problems such as 5395 on Route 103 with a broken axle back in 2006. 5614 on route 4 Cottage Grove with malfunctioning doors and interior lights back in 2004. Those are a few I remembered now the TMC’s are another issue

That one flxible that crashed in Addison st was not in 2001 it happened in 1994 when the 5300s were still Pretty much still new
