. Visually, this is the best video in the CTA collection. Aurally it is seriusly diminished by the whistle from the slipstram of the train. It sounds exactly like a tea kettle throughout the video. . I presently have this muted on loop. I hope a new, improved nighttime Brown Line video can be done soon. It is great to run at my desk while I am working and to spend time with just loosening up the mind.

Disturbing sound: A not totally closed side window in the driver's cabin. Proof: At 12:34 you hear the impact of a second train (kind of a mild "shock wave" --> sudden change of the whistling sound). AND at downtown extended regions with no sound (wind shadow of large buildings).

When recording these videos it'd be nice to check the videos before you release them so that there aren't any obstructive sounds that may prohibit the viewer from enjoying the train ride and train sounds. Also if you guys could start putting the series number of that header car in the description so us rail fanners will know what type of train is being used in the video. Thanks

CTA Connections' videos of the brown line are really jinxed. The first one, about 2015, was plagued by trackwork slowdowns (between every stop south of Addison/Lincoln)....this one, by the annoying "whistling"...and the latest one, 2021 in a winter storm, has the windshield (with no wiper) clouded up the the sleet. May as well forget it.....No technology can overcome its scars.....shamed before God and Men.

Camera and mic mounted outside? Is that the wind noise? Turn off the sound to enjoy a view of Chicago at night. To those commenting on the few people on the platform on the inbound leg of this circle trip, it's evening on a warm night at 8PM and few people are commuting inbound at that time. Now if you watch after the train goes around the downtown "Loop" and starts its return journey (43:36 in the video) there are some "outbound" commuters from the CBD to the northern areas of the City and suburbs. The outbound portion of the video happens around 8:45 PM, after the evening rush is over.

Drew Steitz Cameras are outside the train. The time lapse videos however have music. If you’re still looking for a real time video at night without the wind, the Blue Line to O’Hare and Green Line to Ashland/63rd & Cottage Grove were filmed early morning.

Unfortunately the whistle is caused by the aerodynamics of the train itself, and is not something that the operator can do anything about. I imagine it must be quite annoying for them. The 2400, 2600 and 3200 series L's all had this situation due to front door design. There is a one foot strip of safety rubber near the handle that was installed to minimize the damage one would endure to their fingers if that door slammed shut on them while walking between cars. The sound is caused by the wind passing thru the rubber and the door jamb, it has nothing to do with buildings!

I love this trip at night, but the whistling is awful. I hope this can either be remade or someone with some audio expertise can either eliminate or at least significantly tone down the whistling.

The Red and Blue lines run a “Night Owl” service, but most lines do not serve passengers 11pm-2am, as a general rule.

I'm sorry but I stopped watching after the first stop because that screechy whistling noise, that sounded like it was coming from an opened window or something, was driving me crazy!!!!😬😵‍💫😬😵‍💫😬😵‍💫 Sounded like someone scraping their nails on a chalkboard.

This video should have been made during the day and not at night. The view would have been better and clearer than the night view seen here in this video.
