Co-Op tryhard reviews meme commander tier list way too seriously

Toxicspill made a Starcraft 2 Co-Op Commander tier list video. I took the time to go through each of his commander placements and did an evaluation of each, until I realized right at the end that many of these were joke rankings.
Please don't flame Toxicspill because he works hard on editing his videos.

LOL, I loved this. It's funny to see professional seasoned players look at this and think "No you didn't"! In all honestly, loved the video but in making it, half of it was just a Sh*t post. Also, I forgot to put it into the video that I wouldn't count prestige as it would triple the length of the video. Makes more sense to dedicate a video to prestige ranks alone. I get you and you are damn entertaining, but in all honesty I was pretty noob in coop when I found your video and took all for granted as good advise as you certainly had more clue than me, back then. Haha, it made me buy Dehaka as first commander and I had damn much fun eating the Hybrids right away with full health. Thanks for the glorious tip, honestly. (less damage from them) (also I am really into those primals and a melee tank who can debuff enemies, so it's not just because of "strong") IMO this game is all about fun, if you have no fun you won't play it. Same was for me in ladder, I enjoyed myself with plenty of things that were not Pro compositions but funny stuff, also playing PVE melee, and that got me good.

Haha.. this is funny, I disagreed with so many of his evaluation. Kerrigan and Raynor are pretty strong. I play Nova a lot because she is easy to play, require pretty much no macro, just upgrade, drop units and fight.

So I have avoided trying to make much of a list like this because I haven't played half the roster, and I'm, at best, a mid level player, but after seeing this, I somehow think I might have a semi-decent understanding of the game. A lot of the things that made CTG cringe also had me scratching my head, even on people who I have never played myself

Another thing to consider is that most people play the random queue to prestige a commander and not cheese it by paying somebody else. This affects the perception of a commander and the prestige.

Hello ctg I enjoyed your video. So as feedback: Make a tier list, assuming each commander used his best prestige, and name the prestige (but also make a comment on the commander strength without prestige, so just verbally if he is 1 or 2 below if one doesn't have the prestige, cause there are no exp boosts anymore!). Also verbally say if it's only good with masteries (let's say 50% , so 45 points), or just prestige and mastery level 1+. I'd prefer the list without masteries. TBH I think it's better. Who has masteries full doesn't need the list anyways... This way it was still rather easy / have a good overview of still 15 commanders.

I am just getting back into it and I am kinda sad some of the prestige and level upgrades may not apply for example swarm bonus on zagara loses zagara but upgrades and even higher levels boost zagara making her not get full benefits. I wish they would translate to something else if they lose a hero or unit that it would not apply to.

I'm not sure if English is ToxicSpill's native language, sometimes some of his phrases don't really connect, and he overuses some phrases like "quite". Not trying to BM him out anything just weird how some of his phrases don't really make much sense in context to what he's talking about.

I think alarak is, 1 for 1, the epitome of damage dealing. His ultimate with a full army behind him allows him to deal thousands of damage. By far the most damage done by any single unit. I don't even think devouring psionic units can get on that level...

Alarak to me is much more of the Epitome of dealing damage with style; making it look like you dealt more damage then you did But Dehaka is much potent as he arrives quickly in the battlefield; disgusting potential all the way throughout the game and devouring a psionic unit in an army can turn him into a nuke. Alarak can have that effect; but he needs his army and a long cool down ability. While Dehaka just needs himself and one good devour.

Artanis - I'd put him a rank higher, only because of his caster build (HT+Zealot). Very strong, deletes waves and good in prolonged fights by "healing" with storms, while enemy casters get zapped. Requires micro, but is a refreshing way to play since the common way is A-move. Not to mention the support he provides in form of GS and Bombardment, which is no small amount of utility and shouldn't be disregarded in ranking. Absolutely agree that Kerrigan is way higher, especially her prestiges. I find the hero the most useful, and there's no way other heroes could outdamage her. Has an answer for everything, only her P0 is considered weaker vs air. Good in offense and defense both, she definitely deserves a high rank. Dehaka - I haven't seen Dehaka played as you describe, as a commander very difficult to rival in kills. Idk maybe I haven't seen pros play him, I certainly play him sufficiently well to do good, but not as good as to reach the level you describe. 🤷‍♂️ Fenix - hate this commander and his hero unit is only good as a distraction or to get rid of a smaller group of enemies, tank, or soften up a wave. Wish I could do better with him lol, have to unlock prestiges though Nova - powerful and versatile as long as her army is intact xD I think she's ridiculously good, and I've had games where I've stuggled to get ANY kills when paired with a pro Nova player. She can do everything as long as she can preserve units. Played her a fair bit, but still didn't reach that level :D

Swan probably has highest damage out put late game ive seen so far, though his mid and early game are rough. Max thor every single thor can do 500 area damage like every 20 seconds, and all the tanks do +40 damage and get 1 extra range. And both thors and tanks are able to be rebuilt upon death on location. And they can drop shoot right out of Hercules. Just drop them and everything melts.

Nova is my first commander. Definitely my favorite. Her defense drones literally prevent your entire army from dying. Once you prestige Nova, 700 griffin air strike is GOAT! Cooldown is so little. I will totally out Nova in a tier

They weren't joke rankings. They were rankings from the perspective of someone with limited understanding of the game (as evidenced by his opinions and not using hotkeys). I do agree with most of your takes on his rankings since I also posted a comment on his video a while ago criticizing some of his things (especially Kerrigan) but you were too harsh to the point of being almost toxic (Ironically since he's name is ToxicSpill 😋). You also stopped way too much to criticize stuff that wasn't even worth stopping for. Overall a great take, but executed poorly. Could have used a lot more tact to be honest. Calling them "joke" rankings is quite mean. But this is just my humble take on this. Don't take it personally since I do agree, like I said, with all that you said. Though I'm glad that at the end of the video you redeem all the harsh criticism when you understand where he's coming from!

Started playing coop recently and I have to say the "then play clash of clans" thing is insulting to me as a low tier player who can't micro Hotkeys are part of the game but you have to memorize them and put them into practice and I just haven't learned them all yet and know many friends who struggle to learn the game let alone hotkeys This is why high tier players and low tier player tier lists are so different in this game its about time and skill.

You as a casual player have to trust me as an experienced player on this one: It's soooo much easier to play the game with hotkeys than it is without. In fact, a lot of what makes the game hard for casual players is because they have to move the cursor to every single button on the command card and top bar, and then back to the screen, and also to every single location on the map, just to make their guys move. If you drive, think of "not using hotkeys" as trying to use the same hand to steer, put the car in drive, use the turn signal, use the wipers, move the windows up/down, and to press the accelerator and brakes. It's literally just putting undue stress on yourself because a car is designed to be operated using 2 hands and feet. Starcraft is also designed to be played using 2 hands, with one on the mouse, and the other on the hotkeys. The time saved by not having to move your mouse to every single spot on the screen so many times just allows you to play faster... without actually having to be faster, if that makes sense. This is why I stand by my Clash of Clans statement. Your choice is whether to feel bad about yourself, or to take yourself out of that situation... or quit. It takes about 2 weeks of casual playing to memorize hotkeys. You just have to make a little effort to open up so many options for you. You don't have to go all out with all hotkeys right away. You can start with just the basic and most valuable ones like "a", "F2" for the first couple hours, then once you get that down, I think the next most valuable ones are simple control groups for your production and upgrades. Then depending on your race, move on to the most used abilities like stim, corrosive bile, blink, etc. Just learn and incorporate a few at a time. Remember: You don't have to learn all of the hotkeys; just enough to allow you to command your units efficiently. If you have trouble memorizing hotkeys, you can just go into the in-game hotkey menu and assign all the most frequently used hotkeys to the same key, so you just have to remember that one key for everything. E usually works for the standard layout. Or you can try grid layout which copies the command card grid on to a keyboard grid so the buttons are all on the same spot on your keyboard, making it easier to memorize. High level player tier lists will allow you to beat any mission on any difficulty, with mutators, without allies, and therefore apply to a wider scope of the game. Low level player tier lists don't cover as much as the former.

@@CtG-Games yeah I get that and the few hockey's I use (such as queue for buildings) make the game a bit easier though it dies still sound insulting to tell someone to play a different game. That said I do get where you are coming from. Hockey's and skill in micro come from practice. Personally I just don't feel the need to get that good. As for tierlists... yes and no. For example you mention several times in the video about "that's why you use prestige" but what if you don't have those? I see a low tier player teirlist as the "lower skill" list and the high tier player tier list as "more skill but good in almost all scenarios" But the reason I stated as I did in NY comment is that a lot of high skill players often forget the view and skill of a casual player

@@lunarshield8944 Where do we set the bar for low skill players? Some use hotkeys, some don't. Some know the map timings, some don't. Some have prestiges, some don't. Some have rapidfire, some don't. It would take so much time trying to decide what skills a low skill player does or doesn't have that it's just not worth it. It's much more efficient to focus on what abilities the commanders have, rather than what skills the players have. It's a commander tier list, after all, not a skills some players may or may not have tier list.

To be honest is not insulting. I accept i am sht at the game and i dont know how to micro or use hotkeys. I know they speed up your time in everything and makes everything easy to control in the long run but im sht and i admit that. Thats why i play Tychus who deosnt have an army cuz is to much for my micro brain. Im not offended by this at all. I agree with you. U need hotkeys in StarCraft but im not here to be the top player of the day. Im here just to have fun in coop. As a player who can't multitask I find this tier list to be mostly accurate, though Karax is at the top, Kerri is middle to upper tiers, Stet needs an empty tier above himself to show just how much worse he is then any other commander, Nova is one of the strongest, and Alarak is near the bottom.

Every commander in sc2 coop has their catch or reason why they are like that and even with drawbacks, I like all of them because of the unique characteristics and crazy gameplay you can do especially with prestiges. Well, I sound biased but to an avid fan of starcraft, these commanders are so well made but I'm not that fan of tier list. Even though the one posted it spits facts or a pro player, still there are personal preferences that may not work for me or you. That's why you will hear them saying this is MY TIER LIST and such. But I do agree with CtG on justifying why you put them in that category at least even it is just a joke. To each on their own, maybe this is what top tier entertainment is like for others.
