Drummer is the coolest! This is an amazing array of talent. Makes me so happy to have lived during the same generation of musicians! I just went to a Jazzfest to see Ali Ryerson, world renowned flautist and Downbeat's top choices in their annual poll. I'm going to be 73 in May, 2024. Say it with music!

Here's to: Hubb Hubert Stanley Eric Joe Richard Ralph Ron Gary Jack Grady Gordon Milt Herbie Gabor Esther Pee Wee Don And of course, Creed. Also to the host of others that helped push this label and jazz to the mainstream as far back as the 70s. Whether as ensemble leaders, arrangers, conductors, or session sidemen, their work will always be a foundation for the music to come. Assuring us that the music will never die, but will always remain new and vibrant. 🥂

@@MyRackley on the other hand, from the viewpoint of an older lifelong Jazz musician seeing the decline of musical standards… as a music teacher seeing 10-year-old girl students casually singing X-rated hip-hop… and as a long time aficionado of jazz/R&B/gospel/blues, Watching hip-hop take over as the new “black music” is all a significant reason to be concerned and speak out don’t you think?

thanks for posting this concert! 1:30 You've Got The Fever is especially good.
Sérgio Morais you are correct, sir! O---M----G! The CTI years were a big influence on me, and I was so lucky to have been at an early-70's concert in L.A., maybe the Palladium. Freddie Hubbard and Stanley Turrentine were two of the big stars then. And Hubert, what an incredible lasting talent and virtuoso he is! I'm still trying to master my flute embouchure along with my flugelhorn and alto sax, and still find it so challenging!
@ronrobbins27378 жыл бұрын
Funny you should mention that! I'm currently on a new Hubert Laws kick, learning Joe Samples' "It Happens Every Day." Laws played on his own version, Samples', and Jazz Crusaders too . . .

We're so lucky being in that musical era! I got to see the Jazz Crusaders once at tiny Shelly's Manhole in L.A., maybe '61 or so, my idols!

Джаз с афро-кубинским оттенком - удивительная по красоте и задушевности музыка. Изумительный коллектив, очень лёгкое и тонкое исполнение, никакого дурацкого понтярства, которым страдает большинство музыкантов-интеллектуалов.
