@@CTmoog it would be perfect if it gave a finish to the weld like Bill Metal Work does in its channel, the finish it gives to the weld is impeccable, you can't see any sign of the weld bead, it gives three different sandpapers

One of the recent videos (2 or 3 ago) on Puddin's Fab Shop he duplicated a VERY similar patina on a 61 Chevrolet Impala Wagon. He goes into a decent amount of detail. He used it over some rust repair and it's relatively seamless. Might be worth checking out.

Perfect example of when to use a cleco.......That would be hard to use a sheet metal screw in that area. a cleco is the bes way to hold that part in place to weld it. He figured that out all on his own....No advice from me. seriously!!!

Just curious, have you thought about panel bond epoxy for the lower front apron area? Weld as much as you can at the spare tire well and sides and use panel bond to adhere the latch to the front apron where the metal is thin? I was going to send you an email with a recommendation but I didn’t see your email posted on your channel info. Love the project!

CT: I think you’re doing a fantastic job! You’re doing better with the editing, fast forward more if you can? If it were my car, I would make sure that the wheel wells, including the fenders were De-rusted. No rust, sealed with the rust, inhibitor, primed, and coated with a Proper under type coating and in black. I would make sure that the engine compartment was de-rusted and properly painted along with the front trunk area on the inside, under the hoods as well. I understand, wanting to keep the patina on the outside with that rusted look, is what you were after. On the inside of the car, I would finish it off completely, as it was new. It will be a great contrast, cool look! I’m sorry, I know I’m just an armchair advisor, but those are just my thoughts… -mr boB

Most Bug panels -all really - are readily available & are cheap. Any time we get one in to repair, I just buy the panel - even tho we make our own for most everything we do - I buy Bug ones - the shapes are all a pain to make, take forever & why even try if you can get a panel for pennies? They are also surprisingly Dull to work on as everywhere you look, everything interacts with 20 other things and every panel will have scabby rust hidden everywhere. I have a pal who restores nothing but beetles - he's a 1 type vehicle guy. & he's welcome to them. :-) Even if you don't use the full panel, it's much easier to have the panel to hand & be able to lop off & fit the bits you need. I was doing similar to what you are ^^ except to a Ford today - was working on the lower quarters right at the back - had the entire lower section inside & out to make - I'd have bought panels but non are available. Making them was - honestly - such a b-ache I was losing the will to live. Got it done, but man, I'd have bought them panels in a heartbeat if I could have, Effort.

I don’t know if you’re aware or not but they do make a bet specifically for removing spot welds and I’ll probably save you a lot more energy when it comes to welding it back in place the new piece I’m speaking of!! Slow down and think about what you’re doing before you do it find out ask people see if there’s a better way to do things because it looks to me like you make more work for yourself approach things to where it creates more work😳😳😳

When you are running a little grinder like that and a zip disc you might want to make sure you put the guard back on and some leather gloves and some protection for your balls. I seen a body man at my uncles shop break a zip disc and a piece hit him in the balls and he had to go to the hospital and get stitches. Funny as fuck for all of us but embarrassing and sore for him !
