Kudos to Cub Cadet for making the machine where you have to remove the engine cover to remove the fuel tank,ridiculous! My first thought when I saw you blow it back into the tank was that it would happen again but you owned it. I will not work on Kohler Courage engines anymore because they always come back for another issue not related to the original repair and I lose money trying to keep people happy.

Well, this wasn't an engine repair, per se, but the misfortune of crud getting in the fuel tank and blocking the line. Could have happened to any tractor or any engine. At least for now, my neighbor's Kohler Courage is running pretty well.

Just asking. Can you drain the tank completely then use a shop vac to clean the tank of debris instead of removing it? It worked for me.

Sounds like a reasonably good solution, especially if removing the tank is too difficult.

It looks like a butterfly or moth chrysalis. The caterpillar turns into this and eventually hatches out to fly away. Must have dropped into the tank at exactly the wrong moment in life. Cut it open to find the gooey insides.

Yeah, it's a grub. He must've been crawling on the gas can and slipped and fell in there during a fill-up. Ewww!!
