The engine has an automatic compression release that’s why it feels like it has no compression but it probably does need new rings and valves

In the back of that motor has a clutch on it it's a disc looking thing that's the clutch you have to put that on the new motor somehow

Stuart Smith, if you like to modify crap, get a Sears suburban w a side shaft/belt & as long as it’s lined up enough & belt size it’ll work. The Deere 110s-216s used a variator w a bigger belt for some reason, & it’s a little harder to get a pulley for em. I’ve got a 82 212 w a dying Kohler in it, it doesn’t knock at all, just burns oil & has 65psi. I could get it fixed or drop one of my other used Yanmar L70s in it & have a 2nd Yanmar diesel tractor, it’s got a rear tank & no pump on the L70 so I’m sad about that, but still. Throttle/choke/kill are the same, pull start & a stack. I love my Yanmar Diesel Sears. I’d spend either $200 on fixing the Kohler or spend $200-300 w dropping a Yanmar in it & also having better Economy, reliability/no carb issues, & it’ll be worth more w a diesel.

make sure you check drive rotation. i know a guy with one on a AC. he had to mount it backwords

I found out on the cubs you can flip the spider gears to prevent 3 reverse gears
