Such good mechanics, I gotta master the left hook as an orthodox fighter, it’s a bit challenging but greatness takes work! Good Video

Yes I would say the footwork is perhaps the most important feature here... landing a rotational punch and being grounded with both feet at impact is more desirable than being in the traditional elevated lead pivot foot position. The Cross is immediately an option in the first scenario. Whereas, with the pivot, the lead foot must recover before the Cross can be thrown.

Happy New Year Coach Charles! Great detailed video, love the break down of significant stretches, footwork and execution. For the first time, I could really feel how the left back foot and the left shoulder move together as one in order to generate that snap. I always learn so much from your videos. Keep them coming!

Happy New year Allison. Yes well done - the realisation of this link between the joints and how they work in tandem is referred to as the kinetic link. It will serve you well when you want to generate power when throwing with technique as your focus.

Another awesome explanation and video! I notice your shoulder pop when throwing the uppercut. Can you please discuss this in a video? Can you use the shoulder pop in all punches? Do you use this in hooks or just body hooks and uppercuts? I've played with using it for straight punches and hooks but not sure if it works for those. Many thanks.

Another great video. I was wondering, is there a test that can be done to indicate whether or not a boxer has good footwork? For example if he can do x,y,z then he has atteined competence. If so, that maybe a good video. Thanks for all of the content Charles.

Buenos dias Charles 👋, thank you for the detailed instructions. In my opinion you are a truly good coach who can explain these complex mechanics well (even online). I have been wondering if the mechanics of knuckle rotation also apply to body hooks. I've tested some variations and the "Russian" hooks to the head feel good on my wrists. To the body, palm or thumb facing me feels ergonomically right. Mhmm, undecided. As a short feedback to your video: structuring the video into chapters is very helpful on my smartphone. It's hanging right next to my sandbag🥊😎 I've integrated some of your technical advice into my boxing. Thanks from Berlin and saludos. #berlinbayband

You definitely need to understand the endpoints for all the rotations of your punches so you don't rotate and cause injury. This is why performing movements slowly to develop good muscle memory is paramount.

@@Charlessalbox Thanks for the feedback, Charles. I can follow what you mean. That's a good suggestion. I've made a bunch of mental notes about punches as well as combos. So, I'll strictly seperate a technical training (slow-mo) from fast drills. Gracias y hasta pronto! Tom

Hi Charles, I have seen in several Cuban/Russian boxing style videos, that boxers rotate the fist to the inside, as you showed. I believe Mexican and other styles do not do this, what is the advantage of punching like this?
@Charlessalbox
@Charlessalbox Жыл бұрын
This is the scoring area of the fist i.e. the knuckles... do you remember the old Olympic style gloves with the scoring area in white?

Swimming stroke- heard this on Frolov's channel for the hook. Russian/cuban style are definitely related, but I wonder if any1 knows differences between them?

I would say the culture of dance and flow takes the Soviet style to a different level. Soviet style is very thorough and provides so many varieties of punch selection footwork but if you don't embody the movements without flair you will become robotic... my example is Loma. This is primarily why he was made to dance from young.
