Great stuff! If you're in a situation where it's difficult to get rid of the noise in the environment. Using a good quality Dynamic mic can be a really good solution. Some of the sennheiser's have a brighter top end which gets them a little bit closer to a condenser.. but I found that Dynamic mics are better in noisy environments because they just don't pick up as much background noise.. plus you can use a little bit less compression because they have less extreme transients. Other things like EQ have to be adjusted a little bit differently to closer to a condenser sound. But one thing I found is that once I've done several tracks like doubling vocals and so on. Dynamic Mics can sound really good with vocals at least to my ears. I have to compliment you how went through your list a suggestions.. I'm not a beginner but I can see how people that are just getting familiar with Cubase should find your lessons easy to understand.

Agreed. Although I do prefer a condencer mic, you could record a hit song with a decent dynamic, and I doubt many people in the world who would be able to tell the difference, and they do have benefits, as you mention :)

If you don't/can't hang up curtains/matresses etc. then two other options are to use a vocal shield (a foam filled half circle or panels that mounts on a microphone stand to cover the sides and back of the vocal microphone. Or even cheaper, step into a closet/wardrobe with clothes hanging up in it ... the clothes will absorb the room reverb ... don't rattle the clothes hangers!

Great learning material. A simple note re an error F Maj7 = F in first column, Maj in 2nd column and 7 in 3rd column. It is F in first column and Maj in 2nd an j in 3rd. Also an option displayed when you click trough F alternatives such as F6, etc on the pad.

Hi I've just bought your course. I know bits and pieces but really struggle with what and where to pub plugins, compression etc as a vocalist. I've watched countless videos on Cubase but as I'm a singer, producing music is nt for me(yet). I just need to get some vocals put to my backing tracks. Looking forward to the lessons

So ive got it all squraed away. But for some reason everytime i try to actually record, nothing ever actually shows up on the track, i know my mic and headphones are set up correctly. Aswell as my interface and sudio speakers and such. I really cant figure out what im doing wrong but its driving me crazy.
@Borntoproduce Жыл бұрын
Hey. It could be a few things, and hard for us to guess, but have you selected the channel you have your mic pluged into as the input for the audio track you are recording onto? If you have a USB mic then you might need to install drivers for it, which you would get from the manufacturers website for Cubase to recognise it. Let me know and we'll go from there
@gabelaub4571 Жыл бұрын
@Borntoproduce I've got it om the proper input, I'm pretty darn sure anyway. I gues there was 2 options so I should prolly give that a try when I get home tomorrow. Also it's an xlr microphone, not a usb

Just a quick question, how do I connect my headphones to monitor the vocals? Because when i plug in the headphones into my pc I can't find it in the audio outputs. Or does that mean I have to install extra drivers somewhere? It's a JBL quantum 800 which I use all the time and have all the drivers for. I have an audio interface where i can plug in the cable into the monitor section itself but since the headphones aren't that great with the cable it sounds awful.

First, I would try a different headset. I believe the JBL is a gaming headset with a microphone. Ensure your Control Room is set up correctly too. You can find videos on that with a quick search. What audio interface are you using

@@CharlesK441 hi thank you, I tried with different headphones and it worked. I have a behringer umc204HD audio input. I found that I need to go to the control panel in studio setup and check the box f the headphone, then choose them in my audio connections. Edit: IT does Work with the JBL headset but i do need to change the sample rate to 48k Hz to find them

Need your help, im using yamaha mg12xu connected directly thru my laptop using usb,im using cubase Le , i want to record a bass track over a drum track that is pre recorded. audio playback is bleeding whenever i record a bass? How can i solve this issue? Please help thanks
@Borntoproduce Жыл бұрын
Not sure, there shouldn't be any bleed when recording a bass via cables (DI) as there is no mic involved to pick up any external noises such as drums coming from the speakers. Make sure only the bass track is armed ready for record and not the drum track aswell. Anyone else have any ideas?
@CharlesK441 Жыл бұрын
Same as what you said. Ensure only the recording track is armed.

I am finding the lessons so far really helpful. I have Cubase Pro 11, so before I purchase the remaining lessons under this course, can I please ask if it will all be relative to me using my version as opposed to Cubase 12?

Glad you are enjoying the lessons. Yes this tutorial can be folowed along with in Cubase 11 no problems :)

Is there a way to change the pitch/scale of individual drum sample in the drum editor itself? Only work around I have found Is dragging a single pattern to a sampler track to change pitch of the drum scale In key editor. Is there an easier way to accomplish this with fewer steps?
@Borntoproduce2 жыл бұрын
I presume you're using Groove Agent? If so you can change the pitch of drums in there, just click the pad with the drum on and click the edit tab
@xJerzZx2 жыл бұрын
@@Borntoproduce I appreciate getting back to me. I know about adding one sound and scaling it on 16 pads on groove agent. As of right now there's no way to actually change the midi scale per instrument on patterns unless you pitch using curves from my understanding. I wish there was an easier way to edit and control the midi data separately.
@Borntoproduce2 жыл бұрын
@@xJerzZx I see, I was thinking you mean the overall pitch of the sample. I don't think there is, short of chopping up the MIDI and using the transpose function in the project window
