Cubase Pro Profiles for Stream Deck Mac Installation

Hi. Question: I just purchased the stream deck (hasn’t arrived yet) and the main intention was to use macros and shortcuts on it. But now I tan into this video and looks great too. My question is can I have these functions from your presets AND also program my own macros? I guess I can but wonder if is viable and practical. Like maybe have another page with my own. Thank you in advance

Hi Diego you certainly can. Just create new pages or create your own macro keys in a vacant spot on one of the pages.

This tutorial needs to be updated. I’ve just installed the Cubase profile on a new Macmini and it’s taken ages as things have changed, like the Mac Library file is now hidden and there’s no “ more actions” button in the streamdeck softwear.

Please add a Nuendo Version, it should be easy since you created Cubase (technically same software)

The direct action in question is not present in the Cubase Midi Remote or Key Command list. It is not included in our list of actions. However, with our updated version, V3.03, you have the option to create a Multi Action. This involves initiating the process with the Studio Panel Shortcut and then copying a custom action that has been previously Keybinded to click the Control Panel. It's important to note that you must keybind the custom mouse action before copying the custom key to the Multi Action, ensuring precise coordination. Additionally, it's not possible to keybind the custom buttons once you are inside the Streamdeck Multi Action.

I can understand that using midi is for bidirectional use, so the stream deck button toggles on too, which makes sense for buttons like Play or Cycle etc. But why use midi for various other buttons that don't seem to toggle on? Why did you notnjjsg use hot keys for those

Hello, Hotkeys are limited especially if all combinations are maxed out. Meanwhile MIDI talks directly to the paired and enabled hosts(Low Level). unlike hotkey that talks to the system to call that function. Some Midi command used, also have Hotkey counterpart in the Transport folder. You can’t t use hotkey of course in the Quick Control and MIDI Remote. The Toggle state depends on Cubase if it will send that back to the virtual MIDI ports of the Streamdeck.

@@arnelbarbarona2823 thanks very much for the response, forgive my lack of understanding! So why do I see people set up things like rewind and fast forward with midi rather than hotkeys. I can't see an advantage? Also with modifiers wouldn't there be an almost infinite amount of key commands. Sorry just trying to understand exactly where midi is preferable over key commands

@@alexmdelfont7304 Hi Alex do you have issues using MIDI in the Commands? The Hot key combinations are already maxxed out in our preset. maxed arround 800+ Commands. Sure it covers almost everything but MIDI Controls are plenty there are 128 notes in every Channel Multiplied by 16 channels (2,048 MIDI Notes) and there is MIDI CC to use same 128 CC in 16 Channels, There is Program Control and sysex in short it will cover anything with the use of Generic Remote and MIDI Remote ( We dont use mIDI notes as a note trigger in these aspect just for the commands.(other ports are use in MIDI notes and MIDI CCs) The thing limiting with hotkey is that when you minimized Cubase you wont be able to control the unfocused Application. WHile you can still control Cubase in the background with MIDI triggers. You cannot COntrol Pan, Fader, Each channels MUTE, SOLO Read Write, etc. See the point? and not all users use the same Keyboard language layout our Ctrl+Shi+ALt+, might respond different in a Dutch language layout. I personally wish to control all Commands in MIDI so Keyboard language wont be an issue no more.

We do require you to use our keyset as we have programmed hundreds of new keys however it is built off of the default keyset so most functions already programmed in Cubase remain the same. If you have added ones beyond that, you will need to modify the keyset and the shortcuts in the Stream Deck profile. Not difficult, it is customizable, do it once and you're done. Unfortunately there is no way around this for those who are working with modified keysets.

I guess just save the preset and/or edit the ones I use on the SideshowFX Preset, right?

@@DiegoParedes Sure you could switch between the two if you like. Even build a key that switches the keysets.
