Nice vid I appreciate it so let me toss out a word of caution that may or may not apply in your situation. In the states I have had friends fined for burning milled lumber that is not treated. This has occurred numerous times. These fines can be very high and 75 year old lumber from a demolition house wasn't considered "natural" because it was milled. In that case he was also sited for an above the ground fire pit which was a 30 inch tractor rim. He took examples of all the outdoor fire pits available for purchase and the judge threw out the fire pit fine but sighted him for the milled lumber. He pointed out the city has massive burns at the dump two miles from the edge of town burning everything imaginable but hey, it's the city, they can do as they please. Crazy or not the city has demolition old houses with asbestos by backhoe and the wind carries the crap everywhere and it all goes to the dump they won't let you or I take those products to. This is a small town Winner South Dakota. If your on vacation and the grass happens to grow to six inches the city can mow it and bill you up to three hundred an hour. They drive around taking pictures and decide what are possible violations but none are ever certain people it's biased and selective. America is going down the toilet with the New World Order inflicting and infringing on our way of life. How bad is this crap in Canada happening?

If you want free wood go pick up hardwood pallets make sure you get the ones not painted this way you know you have raw wood. Go into any industrial area and they usually let you have them for free! usually a business has them out back I heated my place for over eight years like this. pick up a cordless skill saw and you can cut them up on location and just sift threw your ashes and pick out the nails build them up in a five gallon pail take it to the scrap yard and they pay you for the steel.

To clean the glass it's simply a matter of getting some wet newspaper and dab it into the ash from your fire ( cold ash ), and wipe the glass with it. There is nothing that you can buy that will come close to matching how quickly and simply this method will do the job in cleaning the glass for you with no scratching or any other damage caused. Try on a small section if unsure but l promise once you have this will be the only way you will ever clean the glass on your wood stove in the future.

You don't have to clean the chimney pipe out that often. We heated exclusively with wood for years and with it going 24/7 for about 4 or 5 months a year, we only got the chimney cleaned once. Best ways to avoid messing up your chimney is to avoid any kind of pine, which creates a lot of creosote, and burning hot at least once a day to completely burn the gases from the fire. Don't forget your wall clearances when installing and the heat shield that goes around it, and keep your flammables a good distance away. If your furniture and belongings are getting really hot, you know you are too close to the stove. Some of these stove installations look like a fire waiting to happen.

A little HINT: I used to live in the moutons for 21 years had 2 BIG Fireplaces because I had a Bed & Breakfast... The man that used to bring my firewood (2 cords a month!!!) taught me a little TRICK, because one time I got snowed in so bad, they couldn't get to me!!!! Always have a couple of bags of Charcoal near by.,... I would put foil on the bottom, a little stack of Charcoal in the middle, then a handful of pine needles (great fire starter) then the wood on top of all of that... The reason for the charcoal on the bottom especially at night... It would KEEP the fireplaces HOT through the night. I didn't use the charcoal during the day because I could add wood... The charcoal is a lifesaver at night so you don't have to get up so many times. It burns slow and keeps the RV/house toasty. Are you glad you got the Mini woodturning stove? Or would you have rather gotten the Grizzly? I Flip RVs and want to put one of these in my Vintage Travel Trailer & the big 30' Class A RV I'm going to be selling soon. When I get this one for me... I will not only have the charcoal near by but also Pellets too!!! They burn clean. Do you think the Mini is big enough for a 30' Class A RV??? Thank y'all so much for sharing this great video. Great video Dave where about's you in Canada ? Good tip for cleaning your glass get some newspapers and when the stove is cool with no coals take and wet your newspaper did it in your ashes and it cleans the glass on the stove perfect!

I just got my Cubic Cub and Dickinson Deck Fitting like you. My only concern is that it is only single walled above the roof, does that cause a "cold air plug" for the stove's draft? Also, the Dickinson fittings are female on top, which is the wrong direction. Have you had any issue with creosote running outside the pipe from the exhaust cap above your roof? Especially since that is the area in the flue that is coolest? I only want to do this install on my trailer once and was a bit concerned about that... We also have a Bigfoot, it is our 3rd Bigfoot, they are the best!

You can clean the smoke and soot off the window of the stove by mixing a little water and some cold, dry wood ash into a paste, then with an old rag, rub it around and it takes that stuff right off like magic. Then just buff it with a damp rag, let it dry and fire it up again.

I would suggest not burning pine (like 2x4s) they produce more creosote then hard woods and they burn faster.

Most lumberyard scraps are pine . The worst wood you can burn . It burns fast and creates lots of flammable creosote that will run down the side of your vehicle . You'll stoke less often with hardwoods and they burn much cleaner . Of all the hardwoods , I've found black locust to be one of the best .

I have learned that the chimney needs to be over 300 degrees in heat so as not to produce tar, or creosote. First the chimney was white with double walls, then the filmmaker seemed to switch to simple wall chimney. If the chimney is leaking creosote, it should be desirable for it to drain on the inside and not contaminate the air in the living space.

A place to lay my head some cabins with some cool vintage tapestries for storage. I joined Planet Fitness $10 a month for shower hygiene and get a workout in. Have my spray shower if needed to refresh and a van life friend for my birthday recently sent me a propane cooker for running out there roughing it. just take pliers to the underside of bracket and twist the metal piece a quarter turn repeat process on other tabs & pull off bracket from the top of stove.. easy peasy lemon squeezy!!!

Eco fan. It runs off the heat of the stove. No power needed. They're kinda expensive though. The one here is about $200.

Nice black glass you got there. The screws will eventually rot and become useless. Bad design using screws inside, no sign the secondary burn is actually working considering the state of it, also looks like no airwash over the glass to keep it clean. Too high off the floor too.

A spray bottle of LA's Totally Awesome cleaner and a napkin will remove any soot residue from the camper and the stove. they sell at the dollar stores. It also cleans glass and acrylic waterpipes like magic. Just spray and rinse with hot water, and no water spots as a bonus.
