The guy he’d replaced was only there a couple of years. The organist may be who you are thinking of. He was there for 40 plus years!

@@pkh6965 actually, the guy he replaced was a temp fill-in. He was the PA announcer for 16 years from 1995-2010 and then came back again as a temp in 2021 until they found their full-time guy. The guy prior to him was PA announcer for 10 years (2011-2020).

@@ktlynn177 Wayne Messmer was PA announcer up until 1994 when he was shot in the throat. Even though he still sings the National Anthem on his occasion, that was his last year of being the Cubs' PA announcer.
