With the winch mate I run a momentary weatherproof rocker switch wired up on my dash wired into the winch solenoid and it works great it's always setup ready to go no having to carry around a remote or anything. The winch I got has also got a wireless controller but never use that but handy to have if working on it whilst it's hanging from the roof with the winch can lower it while underneath it if lining up something

For that filter under the mower I would add more to protect it if you hit something from the side or you run over something that sticks into the filter your going to be sitting there and can't move i know you have lot of pieces of steel or pipe laying around
