My mom raised Great Danes during my childhood and they were called gentle giants…they were so sweet, so kind and patient and gentle. Great Danes are beautiful with big hearts.

My gentle Harlequin giant was ‘Jona’. On visits to the dog park, I would watch my beautiful boy visit families and pups all over the park. Everyone knew Jona. On neighbourhood walks, he too greeted one and all , and they greeted him. It’s been many years and still my heart misses his sweet nature. He truly was an angel on earth. 🥹🙏🏼❤️

Brenda, my Harlequin was named Jada. She sounded identical to your description of Jona. She passed at 12 years old, and took a bit of my soul with her. Because of her, Harlequins are the standard to which I apply to all dogs. They are simply amazing animals. 🐾 🤙🏽

My youngest sister had one. Went home for vacation was greeted by him barking. The size of him and his teeth had us most apprehensive to get out the car. He was fawn colored. Went to the park where they had deer. He approached the fence and so did the deer. The calmly sniffed one another. What a beauty! ♥️👍

Love it! We said goodbye to our old boy several months ago (lymphoma). A Rotty/Chow-Chow mix, he was 107 lbs. of love bug. On the street, he loved all people. Anybody who came into our house or yard with another family member, was an immediate friend (and he never forgot a friend). Should a stranger try to enter the yard, uninvited, our old boy would challenge them (I don't think he would have attacked any person, but his bark was enough to scare anyone). At his passing, I couldn't believe that the Creator would put such a wonderful animal on this Earth for just a short time. Thanks for the video!

OMG. That was our Boomer! He was also a Harlequin Dane. We found Boomer in a shelter and he melted our hearts. He had been there for over a year in a cage that was smaller than him so that when he stood up, it wore a sore spot on his back by his rear hips. No one would take him because he was so big, 150 lbs. BIG. Walking in the park he always wanted to say hello to everyone. Some were scared of him just because of his size, but we always reassured them that he was just a huge teddy bear. We adopted an Aussie on the same day as Boomer to keep him company. Buster and Boomer were best friends until Boomer sadly passed away from cancer 6 years later.

My Uzi - Harlequin Dane passed from cancer when he was 8. It was over 30 years ago and I still cry every time when I think about him - even now. He was the sweetest, most loving giant baby.

My family used to breed Great Danes so I always had one of more in the home my whole life. Our last Dane died in 2004 and will still miss him. He was deaf which made life interesting and looked just like this gorgeous boy 😊

My dog loves to get pets from everyone in the neighborhood. She has become friends with many people near us because she visits them everyday. When she sees a person outside their house she gets so excited, wags her tail and starts to walk towards them.

This is a wonderful video. It just underscores the fact that dogs, by their nature, are love animals. When raised with love and affection, and gentleness they reflect that in their behavior to the world around them. I know. I am on my 4th dog myself. and the dogs raised with love and gentleness reflect that, and even those who did not have that early on, when given a chance to re-accustom themselves, with love and gentle understanding, become loving and gentle in return, not just to their immediate family, but with the rest of the world. Dogs truly are wonderful.
