I love these videos even though I very rarely play pool. There's something very satisfying about exploiting all of the non-ideal behaviors of the balls to do things that just wouldn't be possible if billiards were as simple and physically ideal as many people think. I don't dream of owning fancy cars, designer clothes, expensive golf clubs, or a big house, but one of the few luxury/status symbol items I *do* dream of owning is a really nice snooker table. There's just something about the game, it's an exciting mix of strategy and finely-honed mechanical skills that very few games offer. I have always enjoyed CS:GO for the same reasons.

Great video again Dave! Burning question for you somewhat unrelated to this video...which throws more, old used balls on a bar table, or brand new shiny ones? I would guess the set of new balls would throw less, but recently as I've been playing I'm starting to doubt it. Is it a big difference? Have you done a video about this before? Dr Dave, As always, thank you for all you share. I have a question on the frozen escape shot. Watching the slow motion, it seems at 5am here (just woke up and watched) that it might be a double hit during the compression of the rail. Or is it one hit with a longer tip connection to the Cue But???

@DrDaveBilliards

No. The CB separates from the tip normally as the CB begins to compress the cushion. A "push shot" is where you purposely prolong tip contact. Many examples can be found here: billiards.colostate.edu/faq/foul/push/

At 1:03 you show bridging at the edge of the table. You can get additional stability by dropping your index finger below the edge of the table. In other words, your index finger sits below the edge pointing down, and your other fingers remain on the top face of the table. This is very stable and still leaves a very stable slot for the cue to sit in.
