The yo-yo drill is excellent. I try to get it into my sessions at least twice a week. When I first started, I wasn't confident enough to bring the cue ball across the table and so close to the side pocket, and as a result I often overcompensated for the potential scratch and got way out of position. Listening to your explanation while watching you go through the drill with various angles really helped me when I started practicing it. I've since gained a lot more confidence to execute the shots in game situations, but I still need a lot more reps to get the feel and touch down.

By the way, Niels, do you know some drills for practicing shooting over balls and shooting jacked up while still controlling the cue ball? Your drill bag seems to be very deep🙂

Thank you for this drill. . I have played my entire life and am a strong 6. I did this drill for 2 hours today and it put me in stroke like I haven't been in a long time. It seemed to rewire my brain and remove some more difficult position play and just made everything so effortless again. I even thought... why have I been making things so difficult on myself? I thank you Sir!

Component #1 of Bert's six pointed star pattern. When I got down to 1 ball I would alternate the next shot to the side rail, then when down to 1 ball again I would put the next shot on the end rail and keep alternating. Sometimes it will be an easier shot - sometimes not - but that's how we learn. Hey Neil's, it is neat watching you now versus watching you on Bert's videos. Sincerely - thank you.

Always awesome content! Nice acknowledgement of Bert Kinister too. I remember as a younger pool player renting Kinister's VHS tapes from the Hawaiian Brians pro shop here in Hawaii and watching him instruct a young up and coming blond dude go through some drills LOL! Great memories, and timeless drills that will always produce results. Whenever younger players ask me who to look up on KZbin for instruction, you're always at the top of my list. @Niels, can you please do a video on draw shot exercise, not power draw only, but controlled draw where you draw back different amounts and explain how you think of it, where you hit the ball, how much below center, speed of stroke, amount of follow through, etc. for each shot. Whatever you think makes for the amount of control of the draw stroke.

Neils is my favorite player in the game today. What a great champion! I was so excited to see him get inducted into the hall of fame. Drives me crazy when he mentions Burt Kinnister. I played Burt 30 years ago at The Port in Portage Indiana. As I recall. He was quite an egotistical and arrogant guy. You know when they say how it is best you never meet your idols? I think Neils would be devastated. Nevertheless, what a great ambassador for the game that has come from some DVDs some Dutch kid got his hands on back in the day! Might be the only contribution Burt ever made. Good on him!

Niels, I really appreciate all of the great drills, and I really respect you giving Bert a shout out as well. I have several of his videos, a couple of which you are in. I do have a question on tip position during competitive play. When you are evaluating the shot and you decide on your next position, then you get down on the ball, are you just "in the zone" and shoot the shot, or are you actively thinking during aiming "one tip above center and stun it across"?

This drill is way harder than it looks. I did it 20 minutes a day for a week and rarely got past five balls. The second week I got up to eight or nine balls. Now in the third week I am doing 10 or 12 with a high of 19. It’s a little harder on a 7 foot table with large side pockets like mine. Scratches are more of a threat. Also, I’ve found at least another 5-6 shots come up a lot that Niels didn’t mention, most likely because lesser players don’t have his precision. I’ve since added the yo-yo drill and skillful squares. Soon the up and down drill too. Really great stuff that teaches you a lot about angles and building/maintaining a good stroke.

Thank you Niels! Curious, why do so many of these drills use balls frozen to the rail? (this one, Yo Yo, going up and down controlling the inside of the table) 🙏
@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen11 ай бұрын
Good question! Because your shotmaking with balls frozen on the rail will improve dramatically, but feel free to ut them a hair off the rail and built it up from there 👌😀

Damn. Did a run of 60 the other day. Prior top was 19. I was shooting too high on the cue ball relative to the positions Niels showed. For example, 11 o'clock on the cue ball. I was shooting closer to a a tip and a half or even two tips above center, slightly to the left, and getting too close to the wing balls. Lowered my tip position and started getting the cueball above the wing balls and before the side pocket. One tip: Don't start out hitting the balls in order. Just hit in any order until you get the hang of it. Then hit the balls in order. Same thing for the skillful squares and similar drills.

Great video as always! Can I please ask what are the pocket sizes on your table?
@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen11 ай бұрын
Thanks! They are 4,25 inch🙏🏻

I see you easily make rail shots something I find really hard in some tables

Mr. Feijn, are you contacting the object ball in the same place? Thanks in advance from Treasure Island.
@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen11 ай бұрын
Hi, the hit on the object ball is the same but it depends on the angle how thin or thick I have to hit it if that makes sense. Straight in would be very full hit but loads of angle would be a very thin hit. Hope this helps!

What if you had a steep angle (say cb in middle of table) and you had to get to the ball on bottom rail?

One question that comes to mind when watching this drill, how well does this translate to bar box tables? I'm going to give it a try anyway
@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen11 ай бұрын
It works the same, try it out 💪😃

Hello nice drill. So is doing these type of drills for cueball control better than throwing balls on table and running them in rotation?
@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen11 ай бұрын
You can break the balls and then play a race against the Ghost. That will keep you sharp ;) Otherwise it might become a practice session where you're just "hitting balls" (without much focus). Start with ball-in-hand, if you run out you get a point. If you miss, the Ghost gets a point. Adjust the number of balls to your level and built it up from there 👍👍 But yes, I definitely recommend doing drills... 😉 If you're interested, I offer Personal Training Plans as part of my new PATREON project!! You can choose between different levels including Personal Player Reviews, Personal Training Plan, LIVE Zoom calls at the pool table, Mental Training Courses, VIP access to new videos and Much More!! 😎 Feel free to check it out right here: www.patreon.com/terminatortips/membership

Subscribed Niels. First question is which diameter tip do you prefer? I am starting experiments with an 11.8 Revo... but I like these Longoni cues and I might buy one next as the Italians certainly make quality products! Prost.

Javohl! Hello Niels! So I watched your video of what is in your bag. You convinced me to go with that same bag and maybe your flames cue... but I now I am not sure about the labels of the shafts being sold here in the USA. I see on the Longoni website that the LUNA NERA shafts seem to be engraved with the logos but do not have a white paint fill in the engravings. But from your video I see all of your shafts have a white paint fill in them. So during my shopping I am finding some cues which have the white paint fill in the LASER engraving as well as a clear coating over the first 10cm of the shaft from the joint end. It seems someone... possibly Longoni has applied a clear coat to protect the white paint fill maybe. I emailed Longoni and a distributer here in the USA but have not gotten an answer yet. Did you have Longoni make your LUNA NERA shafts a special way or is that how they provided you the shafts? Did you ask for white paint fill? Did they give you the option? Do you know how mere mortals like myself would receive a LUNA NERA shaft today if I were to order a new one? White paint fill or no paint fill? Tag! Sir! @@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen

Neil I've been practicing these drills on my table but I have a 7 ft Valley table are the tip positions the same with the smaller table?
