I'd like to know how they determined the durability of each product. Did someone take them apart and comment on the internal construction? Did someone do 'destructive' testing ? I have heard that the Kitchen Aid comes with a warning to not mix dough for too long or it will overheat the motor. The Cuisinart seems to have 30% more power and I assume more torque as well. To me that would indicate the Cuisinart is more likely to last longer. Can anyone recommend more analysis? I bought one of these models and I'd like to know what problems I should watch out for.

In the last month I tried with 3 Kitchenaid Artisan, all of them broke with bread dough only with 500 grams of flour, salt, and 300 ml of water using the dough hook (As far as I know they have a gear that brake under pressure). So, if you are looking for bread I do not recommend the Kitchenaid Artisan. It was very frustrating, saw them stop spinning (and not working again) with a recipe that is published in the Kitchenaid website with references to the Artisan mixer... very frustrating. I think that I will give the opportunity to the Cuisinart expecting it fulfill the promise that Kitchenaid does not.

KitchenAid has gone down hill since Hobart sold to Whirlpool. They now use plastic gears, the oil leaves when used for heavy mixing. They removed the spring from the beater shaft. The motor doesn't last as long. The bowl lift mechanisms tend to break.

watched quite a lot of videos and KitchenAid has always used a "plastic" gear off the worm gear as a failsafe point to save the motor and transmission only thing that changed there was the composition of that gear... new parts with exception to the control board are interchangeable with older mixers

Kitchen aid is 325 watts and cuisinart is 500 watts. Also kitchen aid uses proposition 65 chemicals in their products and cuisinart doesnt.
