I don’t know but I think it has the most shocking ending to a PPV since then. The PPV was brilliant. Everyone felt over on this show similar to WrestleMaina X-Seven. Punk vs Allin was an outstanding match and Bucks vs Lucha Bros stole the show. It was brilliant. EDIT: in terms of AMERICAN wrestling PPVs. It might be the best PPV since MITB 2011 or Survivor Series 2002. I still think Revolution 2020 needs to be talked about though in this conversation. I think All Out 2021 is better then WrestleMaina 19 though because whilst that has a lot of great matches there is some filler and stuff that’s a bit weird (the car fight stuff is crap) but I don’t think I can say it’s on the level of WrestleMaina 17. Although. I think we all love WrestleMaina 17 because of what it represents to wrestling so who knows. In a decades time maybe we will call this the best PPV of all time. Who knows.

Don’t ever compare AEW to the amazing show that was WM 19 🤣 2 debuts don’t make a show the “best”. Punk match was mid and omega/Christian was basically the rematch they had on dynamite except that omega won. Angle vs Lesnar is light years ahead of Christian vs omega. Jericho vs Michaels was better than Jericho vs MJF, Austin vs Rock is easily better than the filler card, McMahon vs Hogan was more entertaining than the punk match and the women’s battle Royal
@angelyaluhhhh91303 жыл бұрын
@@VelvetMetrolink simply you are just a mark. AEW would have no chance against the attitude era. WM 17 is simply the best ppv in wrestling history. Austin vs Rock is better than any Indy wrestling match or anything that AEW has put. Rock and Austin were and are megastars. The pops they receive and the merch sales and ratings they bring in speak for themselves.

The shock values enchanced the PPV, but putting it on the level of X7 is crazy imo. If we're going recent, Takeover New Orleans, Takeover New York, and one of the recent Wrestle Kingdoms could be, but All Out is a tier lower than those. Those two Takeover shows didn't have a bad match at all.
@timothygraham43043 жыл бұрын
He didn't put it on the same level as X7. A PPV can be only half as good, and still be the best PPV since X7. Obviously, there were a fair few since that were more than half as good, but the point is, it's possible.

This is why Vince McMahon has his obsession with “moments”. If done right, they can overwhelm you with emotion and make your brain stop working. All Out wasn’t close to as good as numerous PPV’s since X7 from a match and storyline standpoint (not bad to be clear just nothing special). I mean, outside of the cage match and Punk vs Darby, I wouldn’t say there were any genuinely great or memorable matches at all. What it did have were those “moments” that made you forget that this is a tv show and allowed you to be wrapped up in the glorious emotion and theatre of pro wrestling

I strongly disagree I think every match on All Out was stellar, both in-ring wise and storyline wise
@wh56013 жыл бұрын
@@DoozieDoodle Really? I’m genuinely surprised by that. You’re entitled to your opinion obviously but you really think the casino battle royal was stellar? You think the storyline and build to MJF vs Jericho was stellar? (Feud had a lot of great stuff but should’ve ended instead of adding a retirement match so Jericho could get a win). You think Paul Wight vs QT Marshall was stellar on any level? 😂😂. Those are just the particularly bad ones. There were a bunch of other matches that were just decent in those areas. Personally I feel like you’re confusing simply good with stellar
@DoozieDoodle3 жыл бұрын
@@wh5601 I was going to come back to say Paul Wight vs Qt wasn't stellar, because it wasn't, I just don't think it made the entire show any less special. The Casino Battle Royale wasn't perfect but yes I loved it. MJF vs Jericho was booked and worked really well IMO, it's probably the most I've ever cared about a "Dusty finish" before, sitting in that moment where Jericho's career was announced as over made me emotional and genuinely made me hope for and want the match to be restarted, and that moment isn't just about the moment itself, it's about all the in-ring work that led to the moment and the in-ring work that followed it. That's what makes a moment "done right," if the moment makes sense and fits into the in-ring work they're doing then the moment can work and it is only making a special match/show even more special than it already is. Were the matches on All Out technically better than say Dominion 2018 for example? No probably not, but everyone on that All Out card preformed at a top level where they knew they were a part of something special.
@wh56013 жыл бұрын
@@DoozieDoodle Fair. Guess it’s just a personal preference thing. I still very much enjoyed the PPV, I just think that to put it at that all time level is a bit far for me I do also agree that the MJF-Jericho match/finish was good but excellent in ring work and storytelling within the match itself making up for a unnecessary rematches and overbooking is the sort of thing WWE usually does so seeing it from AEW confused me a bit. I have faith that it won’t become a regular thing with them but still…

As much as I enjoyed All Out, I think it's worth pointing out that the biggest attention-grabber ahead of the show, CM Punk's return to the ring after a seven-year exile, was something that AEW had little part in arranging in the first place. It was compelling because it was a real story, not a piece of genius writing. The biggest "storyline" going into it was Jericho vs. MJF, and it didn't make for a spectacular ending to that feud. Similarly, I popped off at Suzuki and Danielson's debuts, but I didn't care about them because of anything that had happened in AEW itself. I think that's why it feels wrong to compare it to a PPV that had months or years of development leading up to it. For someone like myself who gets much more invested in serial stories than individual matches, it's just not quite the same thing.

For me this is how AEW need to balance their talent put more. Blow off some of the feuds on Rampage and Dynamite so for example in Rochester on Rampage have Brian Cage vs Rickie Starks OPEN for the live fans but when the broadcast comes out it is the main event and AEW just did some swapping with the match card. That way because you’ve given them the main event it feels more important. Use Rampage sometimes as mini PPVs. So for example, the Rampage the night before Full Gear is where we could see Miro main event for the TNT Championship. It could be where we see Trios Champions be crowed (more on why I think those titles are effective later), it could be where we get another Women’s storyline blow off like say Deep vs Shida if they were to have a feud. Trios Titles. These can work with the Tag Division and not be a hindrance to them. When you look at AEW they have A LOT of Tag Teams and also a lot of trios teams and some of those Tag Teams are in those Trios Teams. For example, if Private Party aren’t going after the Tag Titles then they and Matt Hardy can go after the Trios Championship. If the Death Triangle are in the tournament to crown champions and they get pinned by say Dax from the Pinnacle that can spin out into Lucha Bros vs FTR for the Tag Titles. SPREAD THE TITLES ACROSS SHOW ACCORDINGLY.

The thing about AEW and releases is that I don't see it ever happening, they have connections with new japan, GCW, impact, ChocoPro etc. They can easily send their people around the world when the pandemic is fully over and use all the people to improve all the promotions. AEW to me doesn't have a card or an order, it'll get to the point where the whole of the show is just really good wrestlers, in really good story lines putting on a really good show. Adam Cole having the opening match doesn't make him any less of a wrestler than if he main events. The lucha bros and young bucks match was the middle of the card and that was one of the best wrestling matches in decades. Pre show matches, youtube matches are all the same, it doesn't make somebody under utilised just because they aren't the main event. You don't need a belt to tell a story, look what the belt did to Bray. Tony Khan will never release wrestlers in waves over a tweet or a text message, the dudes just far too nice. He's not stopping anybody from wrestling anywhere, and everyone in AEW can be used to improve the product. Give it a year and Brian Cage will have wrestled Punk/Cole/DB, you can't do everything at once and you need to capitalise on certain situations like punk/cole/DB when you get the chance. Everybody else will get their moment, and I'm sure nobody is complaining about having time off to rest and spend time with their family. The only thing that will happen in AEW is that the whole show will be improved, you wont have something like raw where everything is painfully average and you get the same match 6 months in a row between the same 4 wrestlers.
