"Oklahoma" was not a Jim Ross parody. "Oklahoma" was straight up character assassination of Jim Ross as a person and it sucked and Ed Ferrara sucked for doing it. And then Jack says something to the effect of punk rock kicking off with Green Day releasing "Dookie". Oh Jack. Oh honey. Jack, bless your heart, you sweet Summer child.

Late 90s wrestling always perplexes me looking back at it. At the time I used to watch or tape both WWE and WCW and watch one live, then the tape of the orther right after. Then for some reason in 99, I don't even recall why, I just started watching WWE only. Seems like I wasn't the only one.

We do have Polos in the US, they’re called Life Savers. Fun fact, Rowntree’s manufactured Life Savers under license during WWII because they were so popular with US troops. When they lost the license after the war they just changed the name to Polos and kept making them.

Hearing the finish to Nash/Sid made me laugh so much, did not expect it and is the type of nonsense I love in wrestling at times! If I could recommend an episode for this series, it would be either the first SmackDown of the lockdown era or the AEW Dynamite that had the weird Dark Order ending (think it was the last one in 2019)

The sad thing is as a long-time WCW fan, I was getting excited again, and saw the potential for a turn around by this point. We were seeing Hogan less, and WCW was trying to make new stars. Even the "new" nWo was cool for a moment. Then key players started getting injured, died, or left the company, leaving feuds and storyline unfinished. And, of course, let's not forget the most disgraceful World Championship win ever... David Arquette...

Cody is jealous. Disco Inferno had best gimmick while Cody has worst gimmick from WI. Cody had to be a big time player in AEW to win the top brass (sure politics played a role in him winning the TNT title). Their both mid card guys. Plus I’m sure the most memorable thing Cody ever did was being convinced or told Stardust can work. Also Cody has had the worst gimmicks I ever seen in WWE since Glenn was a dentist and that’s saying something! Also the kick didn’t end Bret’s career. What people fail to note is Bret still had matches he didn’t take anytime off and still took hits to the head. The kick was a big part of it but wrestling the next night and keep wrestling added. If he took time off and got checked out WHO KNOWS he might had a longer career.

I think a big part of why WCW fumbled with Bret was their extremely crowded main event scene at the time. You had guys who were contractually obligated to be main eventers (Hogan, Nash), tenured company veterans who earned their main eventer status (DDP, Sting), and the steamrolling phenomenon that got over organically in Goldberg. With so many guys vying for main event spots, Bret just seemed like the odd man out among them.
@woobgamer5210
@woobgamer5210 Жыл бұрын
The best way they could've booked Bret was as a true anti-authority, anti-rebel figure. Screw the NWO, screw Bishoof, screw WCW, Bret just needs to look after himself. Which would then ally himself with Sting, the lone wolf of WCW when the NWO took over. Help Sting fight the NWO, ambush Bishoff with Sting, tag team with Sting. That would've been so damn cool.

On a side note though I just want to say I'm not here to argue I'm not here to talk this or that I just want to say that I think we forget when it comes to Chris Benoit that yes he did that terrible thing but he also had CTE along with other brain injuries and whatnot from wrestling so if he didn't have all those things wrong with him , would he have have killed his wife and son? I don't think would have done it .so honestly I think it's Petty that no one can sit and talk abouthim about how great of a wrestler he was. Again I know it was a terrible tragedy but sometimes we forget that it was tragic what happened to him too. The man worked his ass off and gave his entire body and brain just to entertain us and because of it a terrible tragedy happened. I just think it's wrong that we can't talk about him and his body of work and his contributions to wrestling especially since he's sacrificed so much

WCW creating a wrestler named "Asia", is kinda like if they started booking a wrestler name "Quadruple-H".

Disco’s version of the Stunner was called the “Chartbuster,” I believe he started using it in late ‘98/early ‘99 so there’s no question he was ripping off Stone Cold. I guess it’s better than his previous finisher, a plain vanilla sit-out piledriver.

Norman Smiley was trained by the Malenkos and wrestled in the Japanese UWF. I suspect he could have taken most of the roster in a shoot fight. Not Haku, obviously. Haku is 64, so he's probably only 50/50 to beat a lion at this point.

So. I’m pretty sure punk started in the UK, I could be wrong, but it absolutely was not fuckin Green Day dude, wtf. You’re clearly from across the pond, you should be more in touch with your culture lmao.

So we are now at the point were The Misfits are called Goth . OK !! Sure why not ! lol ! Now days I guess it dont matter . I can see why . So many different genres of punk and metal . Like " No thats not Swedish black symphonic Metal ! Thats Norwegian jazz electronic black metal ! " No , thats not a genre (i dont think ?) .

To be fair, Cody Rhoades is one of the 5% of modern day wrestlers who does know how to get over. He didn't prove Disco Inferno wrong at all, but it was still a deep burn.

The real problem with vince russo is he has a million ideas and literally none of them, not a single idea in his entire writing career was any good. If he had a million ideas he had a million bad ideas. The problem with vince russo is WWE would have been better off with a cancer diagnosis

WCW had no idea what to do with Bret. It’s such a shame too, he was one of the most over baby faces of all time, they could have printed money if they had given him a nice long run as the champion.

Norman Smiley should have been on air WWE talent. Using him as a trainer only was a missed opportunity.
