I'm really glad to see you guys doing the proper "Storm Grey" color that's described in the novels, I think it's a great detail that adds depth and helps them stand out!

I just love the 30k paint scheme so much more than the 40k baby blue. Good stuff. I own a lot of Scale75 colors but only use them by brush, might give them a try through the airbrush now. PS: Which nozzle size do you use for your H&S if you don't mind me asking?

Got a quick question for you guys: Why do you prefer the chaos black spray over using something like vallejo surface primer through the airbrush? Great video and look forward to more. thanks

We find it more robust. Plus the airbrush primer tends to go off pretty quick. The Badger Stylenrez is pretty good.

Hi I have seen so many of your vids, and others as well. Most speak highly of scale75 colours. I'm a noob, just got into warhammer and starting to paint it. But I don't have many colours. So I was wondering if you could share a few thoughts on the essentials. Been looking at s75 steel set and the FX flour. Is that a good starting point? I'm a student, so I'm a bit limited on price
@cultofpaint3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kristian, if you wanted to buy a set of Scale75 that you would use a lot of on many gaming miniatures I would suggest their Gold or Copper sets. They are fantastic and not really found in other brands. Their silver colours are good, but you can get other excellent silvers from brands like Vallejo. If you can purchase them as singles why not try Decayed Metal, Victorian Brass, Elven gold, Black Leather and Brown Leather. These will give you a good understanding of the type of paints S75 produce, but also be really useful colours for painting all kinds of miniatures.

Hi, fantastic work. I love the colours. I have been having a nightmare getting the right thinning mix with the scale 75 paints. I have the HS CP Evolution and don't have issues with vallejo paints. I keep getting dry tip no matter what the mix. I'm using vallejo thinner and flow improver to thin. what would be your suggestion?
@cultofpaint3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the scale paints are annoying in the airbrush. I thin them more than any others. You could try adding some flow improver. Their own brand of thinner will work well as it’s designed for these paints too. I’ve also heard of some people having success using Tamiya thinners.
@lestat72703 жыл бұрын
Great video! One question though , since i used to paint with oils historical minis. Wont the thinner destroy the acrylic paints, even when it has been sprayed with the varnish? Thanks in advance. Great Job again
@cultofpaint3 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks! No not at all, the thinners don't react with dry acrylic paint.

Great video! Do you have any suggestions for working on Vallejo Metal Colours with a brush? I find that when I apply them with a brush, even if I've shaken the pot for a few minutes, it will always separate out into light and dark patches.
@cultofpaint3 жыл бұрын
Do you use them on a wet pallette? We've found that you need to use a normal well pallette to keep them from separating too quick. But we use the metal colour series with the brush a lot.
@zm72863 жыл бұрын
@@cultofpaint Yes, I was fortunate enough to see your video recommending that actually! It definitely helps to reduce splitting, but I still haven't quite figured out how to get them to apply evenly. I might just need to get more practice in!
@xavierfabri2332 жыл бұрын
Hi! If i wanted to make this scheme a little less blue, instead of the pale grey blue mix what would you recommend I'd use? Or do you think the scheme might not work as well without it
@cultofpaint2 жыл бұрын
A more neutral grey, would be absolutely fine.
@realgitz553 жыл бұрын
in the video for one of the steps you say a 50/50 mix of eclipse grey with a drop of druchii violet with 3-4 drops of thinner to paint. what is the 50/50mix of eclipse grey?
@cultofpaint3 жыл бұрын
I shouldn't have said "drop". It's a 50/50 mix of eclipse grey and druchii violet, then heavily thinned.

I really want to incorporate oil washes in my painting, but i dont own an airbrush yet. Is this sort of result achievable with varnishes applied by brush?
@cultofpaint3 жыл бұрын
Certainly, just use a large brush, thin the varnish and try to achieve as smooth a coat as possible. Alternatively, grab an aerosol can of gloss varnish.
@shupactakur3 жыл бұрын
@@cultofpaint alright, so thinning something like vallejo gloss varnish with a bit of water is ok?
@Wijkert2 жыл бұрын
Bit of a late reply, but just in case. You don't need to varnish the model before you apply an oil wash. I almost never do and it works fine very time.
@DungusDingus3 жыл бұрын
How do you getting the vanish to go on so smoothly? I'm having issues where its coming through like rain droplets
@cultofpaint3 жыл бұрын
You may need to thin it a little more. I spray on a layer then hairdryer and repeat 3-4 times.

@@cultofpaint thank you, also which thinner do you recommend?

Hey mate, when I apply a pin wash it goes on a dream. While its drying though it just spreads out of the recesses. Any idea whats causing this?
@cultofpaint4 жыл бұрын
Sometimes this is when the recess isnt actually the lowest point on the model ( rivets can often be a culprit here). If you apply a lot of the wash it's not gonna pool there. So a slightly less dilute mix can help. So can scribing out any panel lines.
@Wijkert2 жыл бұрын
I assume your are talking about an oil wash, otherwise ignore the following. I have had this happen a couple of times and have found that thinning it less helps. So make a slightly less diluted oil wash. The annoying thing is like you said that it only separates after applying to the model.
