I have been warning my therapist about the demise of her profession as a consequence of "anti-conversion" legislation. I had to inform her about the Cass report. The last time I saw her she boasted she was reading a book "De-trans". I get the impression she feels she cannot debate my political views because of the risk of transference. Consequently there is "force field" a taboo about discussing sexuality and intimacy.

I was cancelled when I was a counseling student. I had a rough childhood and that cancellation was by far the most traumatic experience I have ever had. I am still dealing with it every day. The impact that experience had on me cannot be overstated. And the lack of attention to the mental health impacts of cancellation within the fields of counseling/therapy/psychology -(where, ironically and tragically, a lot of this is happening)- is both shocking and inhumane. I admire Dr. Hartz for speaking out about this. Too many in the field are too afraid of losing their licenses or positions of power to do the same.
